I grew up hearing about Polly B and her legacy on the Salmon. Rich enduring history. Love that her memory is permanently preserved.

Polly Bemis was a Chinese American pioneer, who was smuggled to the US and sold as a slave. She's known as the foremost pioneer on the rugged Salmon River. She and her husband Charlie filed a mining claim and became one of the first to settle along the Salmon River of No Return. The Polly Bemis House is on the National Register of Historic Places located on a private ranch accessible by jet boat.
