Ever found yourself caught in the "What's holding me back?" loop or feeling like you're stuck in a hamster wheel of societal expectations? Fear not, you're in good company. Let's take a playful plunge into this topic together.
"Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you'll be criticised anyway." - Eleanor Roosevelt
Do you ever pause to wonder what it is that truly sets your soul on fire? I mean, really ponder about it. It might sound a tad eccentric but hang in there with me. From the time we're knee-high as girls, we're given dolls and told to be sweet and nice. As teens, conformity becomes the in-thing – same clothes, same hairstyles – it's like everyone's auditioning for a uniformity fashion show. But, do you know what it is that you'd genuinely like to do?
"As long as you look for someone else to validate who you are by seeking their approval, you are setting yourself up for disaster." - Les Brown
Transitioning into adulthood, the societal narrative shifts. Buy a house, settle down, get a reliable job, and sneak in a couple of holidays a year – it's like society handed us a checklist for adulting. But is that truly what you want, or are you just playing your part in a script you didn't even write?
Imagine a life where you're free to make decisions, to do what genuinely sparks joy. That's the life I'm aiming for. I have felt like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole for way too long. And even at 52, with a thriving business and three grown up daughters, the pressure to conform still lurks. "You can't trade your house for a van. You can't travel the world alone as a single female." But why not?
"Your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life." - Steve Jobs
Why should we conform to a box that doesn't fit us? A box crafted by society, nudging us to live a life that doesn't vibe with who we truly are. I'm not buying into that narrative anymore. Working a nine-to-five, two holidays a year, spending weekends playing catch-up – that's not my idea of fun. That's merely existence, not living.
So, here's a cheeky thought: Are you brave enough to choose freedom? To dance to the beat of your own drum? It's a bit like crashing a party – intimidating at first, but the cool kids are doing it. What do you genuinely want to do? What sparks joy for you?
We all have the freedom of choice to a certain degree, but the real challenge lies in being brave enough to choose freedom. It's about breaking free, making decisions, and choosing a path that leads to happiness and freedom. Are you up for the challenge? I know I am. Let's step outside the box together and embrace the life we truly want to live.
Now, I get it; not everyone may be ready to sell their house and embark on a van life adventure. But, let's talk about baby steps. How about injecting a bit of fun and boldness into your life? Swap that predictable, Next-style mum outfit for something vibrant and exciting. Take a leap and go out for coffee or to the cinema alone. It may seem daunting at first, but trust me, it's liberating.
"In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself." - Deepak Chopra
Ever thought of putting yourself first for a change? Kick that anxiety about 'you time' to the curb – hit the gym, book a spa weekend, or better yet, join us on a retreat! You've worked hard fitting into everyone else's box; now, it's time to rediscover yourself. Embrace the joy that comes with breaking free from the norm, even if it's just one small, bold step at a time.
And hey, life's an adventure, not a chore. Don't let it pass you by worrying about what people might think. We often regret the things we didn't do, so let's break free from those limiting beliefs.
I've taken on daily cold plunges, breaking free from the icy waters of self-doubt, never did I think I could do it especially in these current freezing temperatures, but I have! And it’s taught me that I have the power within, and I can do so much more than I give myself credit for! and you can conquer anything too. Ask yourself, what are your limiting beliefs, and who or what planted those thoughts? How can you break free from them?
"In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take." - Lewis Carroll
In the immortal words of Henry Ford, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." Don't let life slip away because of concerns about other’s opinions. So, why not take that leap, shatter those limits, and carve a path that aligns with your true desires? The journey begins with a single step, no matter how small or seemingly unconventional.
Life's too short for regrets. Let's laugh in the face of conformity, dance in the rain of self-discovery, and celebrate the quirky, unique beings we are. Because breaking free isn't just about escaping a mold, it's about crafting a life that fits you like a tailored suit – perfectly imperfect. And guess what? You have my full support, I will be cheering you on every step of this exhilarating journey. Let's dance to our own rhythm like no one is watching!
Much love
