Big Stone Bay Fishery in Mackinaw City has signed on to the “100% Great Lakes Fish Pledge,” publicly committing to use 100% of each commercially caught Great Lakes fish productively by 2025. As part of the pledge, the company will also help communicate to other companies in the fish supply chain about opportunities for innovative applications for fish byproducts including compost, fertilizer, protein, marine collagen, leather, or other new, high-value products.

26 companies have now signed the pledge, with 6 of them from Michigan. The 100% Great Lakes Fish initiative seeks to find new and innovative ways to use the whole fish in order to reduce waste, create more value and jobs, and support rural economic development.

One thing about us, we love recommendations and we take them very seriously! I have a great relationship with our house and cabin cleaning crew and they are wonderful with spending extra time making sure things get done and detailed as often as possible.

Having owned my own cleaning business since 2014, cleanliness is a huge thing that I try to instill in anybody who helps us out! They are receptive to feedback, if you notice anything during your stay that is less than desirable. Just mention it to me and I will make sure it is taken care of.

If we don't receive the feedback, we simply will not know, that being said, once I received the feedback from our most recent guest at Huyck's Hideaway St. Ignace, I was more than happy to make some purchases to attempt to cover all details to provide an even better experience with us!

We try hard to go above and beyond for our locations. We value cleanliness, always try to improve, care if you are not having an enjoyable stay, have good communication with our cleaners, and they will always let us know if a rude guest has come across. We really just ask for respect for our location while you stay with us.

It pains me to make a post like this. If you leave any one of our locations in poor condition without any communication on why you left it that way (sometimes there is a good excuse, we get that) you will not be welcomed back at our personal locations or any of the 15 that we own or manage. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. This is so rude! Not only that, but this guest originally checked into the wrong location, left a bunch of dog p**p all over the yard, we had to pay two cleaning fees as they stayed an entire night at the wrong location, used four bottles of lighter fluid and the list just went on.

The following week we had somebody do a drive-by of both of our epoufette locations and say that they "were not impressed" Even though they never even went inside! Each location is well advertised in all of our photos, we do not over promise anything. Their stay was not until August. They were going to have 16 people between both the locations and they threw a fit because the listing was as advertised.

There will be reasons that vacation rentals start charging more or the cleaning fees go up 😓 not just for our spots, but all vacation rentals. Please just show some respect for owners, while little respect will go a long way..

We are very grateful for all the people we have met along the way who have shown us respect, it's very rare that anything like this happens, but it really makes us reconsider offering our place for others when things like this do happen.

Is anyone looking for a last minute getaway?? We have both epoufette locations available!! We do accept credit card and booking is now super simple 🙂 no Airbnb fees with direct books.

Would give you an awesome deal for either location or even both for a huge group!

Our location sleeps nine, the location next door sleeps 11. Pool table and sauna!

We are within 15 minutes of the GarLyn Zoo Wildlife Park, not far away from Cut River falls, Trout Lake or use us as a middle ground to is it the big falls or pictured rocks!

I was able to get both Hideaways certified on Google maps! 🥳 Therefore you can simply type each location into Google maps and the exact location will pop up.

Here is the distance between our two upper peninsula getaways.

One is 8 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge and the other is 8 minutes from the Cut River Bridge and 15 minutes from the GarLyn Zoo Wildlife Park.

St. Ignace sleeps 7 and Epoufette sleeps 9. Epoufette will also have the location next door available starting in May. It was more of an overflow last year but getting a little more serious this year.

It's been a slow start to make sure all of the bases are covered, but I am excited to announce we can now accept credit cards and with this software (OwnerRez) the whole process is a lot more simple and easy for you to direct book with us.

OwnerRez allows for me to send you a quote and you can accept and have everything finalized within minutes. We are still learning this new software but I am personally very excited at all the possibilities this will offer us and the time that it will save on both accounts 🙂

Side note that the below properties are all properties that we either own, sublease or manage! Adding a few more this season. We only have two in the upper peninsula, one eight minutes from the Mackinac Bridge and the other one 8 minutes from the Cut River Bridge.

Check out my father-in-law's place on Trout Lake! This is a approximately 20 minutes from the cabin. Liz and James did a fantastic job getting this spot up and running very recently.

Right on the lake, it has been in the family for a very long time, and never used as a vacation property. This is exciting!!

We are not managing this location, but his amazing neighbors are ☺️ They are wonderful people and have several of their own vacation homes in the area, including Frenchman Lake, and several that they manage in the upper peninsula. You should at least click on the link and see what other properties they can offer for you if you are not interested in this one 🙂

This location will only be available in the winter months, ideally from November to the beginning of May. Basically any time that his location next door to the cabin is not being utilized.

What are some of your "irks" when it comes to staying at a vacation rental?? 🤔🤔

I was reading another thread and many were saying leaving open condiments.. which we do!! BUT what's the alternative? We could spend a lot more money and create more waste with the individual packets? or not provide any?? Thoughts on this?

We are always looking to improve ☺️ it consumes our thoughts much of the time 😂 We love hearing people tell us what they want and expect and try to avoid those "irks"

Jan 29. This has been one of the worst winters for snowfall that any of us can remember. Unfortunately, it affects our scheduled Youth Ride for next Saturday, which we have made the decision to cancel for this year. It will definitely be on the schedule for the first weekend in Feb for 2025! If anyone has questions, please call the museum - 906-477-6298.

Video walkthrough of the cabin! Come enjoy our true upper peninsula getaway. That is just 8 minutes from the cut River bridge in Epoufette. We sleep 9 and are pet friendly! You can literally leave our driveway and be on and all season ORV trails. We are most popular for bird hunters, people looking for a middle ground to sleep, those looking for a true upper peninsula getaway, and you cannot beat our rates. This is going to be the first winter in 2 years that we do not have long-term snowmobilers staying with us so check us out!

What a perfect ending to playing “tourist” today in Saint Ignace! We did not plan this but loved taking advantage of the show after our oldest son, Leland (5) and Mr.Huyck went parasailing with my sister and brother in law. Then into get ice cream at the ice cream parlor which was also fantastic! #parasailing #saintignace
