Family is so precious. I’m the oldest of five - three girls and two boys. We fought, we played, we adventured, we lived and we LOVED. Childhood is so fleeting. I miss those days. Siblings are truly a gift. ✨ My night with this crew of seven transported me back to those simple days spent playing outside with our imaginations to guide our days together. 🩵

I’m not claiming to be a dog whisperer by any means. However, if you do choose to bring your pup to a session, I will treat them like a toddler and make weird noises and dangle treats in front of them. Oh and not to brag… but I do claim to be a toddler whisperer. 🐶

Now that our nights are dipping into the 40s, the leaves are quickly changing. I love fall, but I spend time daily picking every bloom I can find before the frost officially closes the door to that season. Anyone else desperately clinging to summer? 🍂

Yesterday I joined a couple for a day celebrating 50 years of marriage. They laughed through toasts, smiled through a video documenting the past five decades, held each other during their who-knows-what-number dance, shoved cake into each other's mouths, and danced until nearly midnight with friends and family. I hope that in 32 years I will be able to have the same memorable day with my husband. Marriage is truly a gift. ✨

Night owl or early bird? I am total night owl. Also, why do we use birds? I guess maybe because of roosters? It could be a night possum or night raccoon though. Maybe a morning deer? I guess it doesn't have the same ring to it. Anyways, who really gives a hoot? 😆🐓🦉

I was sorting through papers today and a photo from five years ago fell out of the stack. It was of me cuddling one of my boys. He’s nine now and not quite as cuddly (although I do have a coupon that proves he will continue to cuddle me forever). The years have certainly flown by. As a mom, I am begging you to make sure you aren’t only behind the camera documenting your day-to-day. You mean so much to your children and they will treasure the images that remind them of the moments you spent together. Photos matter. Don’t let these years pass you by. ❤️ My own treasured photograph in stories.

It is a bit surreal photographing families who you've known since those kiddos were still hiding out in their mom's belly. I love this family, that's for sure, and I am grateful for the years we've spent together. 💙🌻

Cousins 💚 My sisters and I have kids pretty close in age. So close that they sometimes act more like siblings than cousins. We like to call them “cousins that know each other.” There were a lot of fights in the earlier years, but now that they are growing up, they are closer than ever. It is a special thing to watch. I have a feeling these cousins will have a similar story. 💙

I often get asked what’s my favorite thing to photograph. It’s goofy little kids. Anyone willing to be silly and giggle like crazy. Bonus points if you are a family who I was lucky enough to watch you exchange vows and now raise these tiny humans. That is truly the best. 💚
