Join us in celebrating Rocky Mountain National Park's Birthday! Rocky is 107 years old today 🎂🎉

On January 26, 1915, President Woodrow Wilson signed the enabling legislation that established Rocky Mountain National Park as our nation's 10th national park.

Some Fun Facts:

- While the park was established in January 1915, it was not dedicated until September 1915, when the weather was better so more people could attend the dedication ceremony.

- The park is 415 square miles (265,807 acres) and it encompasses a spectacular range of mountain environments. From meadows found in the montane life zone to the glistening lakes in the subalpine zone and to the mountain peaks located in the alpine zone.

- 95% of the park is designated wilderness

- There are 124 named peaks 8,789 feet or higher in the park, including Longs Peak at an elevation of 14,259 feet above sea level.

- The park is home to 66 species of mammals, 280 species of birds, 142 species of butterflies, 7 native species of fish, and over 1,000 species of vascular plants.

- There are over 350 miles of hiking trails in the park.
