Framing and dry fitting hull number two of the Saturday Night Special sailboats being built at Farley Boat Works in Port Aransas, TX. Each piece must be placed, fitted, beveled, checked for angles, notched, cuts made before any strip gers can be fitted and the entire process repeated all over again. Finally when entire wood puzzle first together it will be taken apart and glued into its permanent place.

Here's the spare camping gear going up in living room for volunteers John Allison and Gerard Middestandt who just joined us today from the deep Rio Grande Valley. Fun way to camp inside a beach cottage. We are all roughing the Saturday Night Special build at Farley Boat Works in a circa 19 60s Wooden beach cottage.

Tonight's meal for the Saturday Night Special volunteers crew at the cottage, an authentic shrimp boil with potatoes, onions, corn and andoullie sausage. The other bowl is New Orleans barbecue shrimp and her bed kale plus French baguettes.

Cooked by John Allison of Austin, Texas. It was, quite memorable. Our next guest chef is Andrew Tatton doing Texas grilling.

Such a great feeling, to see beautiful boats like these burst into life, literally before your eyes. The Pathfinder is John Welsfords larger dinghy sailor and among the most frequently built. A large sea worthy sailor, she is no small undertaking to build.

Follow Brinson on his blog for a look at what it takes to create such beauty.

Here's the stuffed toy donkey in fedora with the yacht club burgee. I do not know if there is significance to that but maybe Cathy Tomsett knows? The boat was Erroll Flynns from his yacht Zaca.

My trip to Farley Boat Works in Port Aransas, TX for two weeks began with my usual encounters with boats. Stopped for gas, water and Diet Cokes and found Error Flynns dinghy from his famed yacht Zaca surrounded by a convenience store!

Owner has certified letter to prove it belonged to Flynn from broker in Lake Tahoe where he bought it. Mahogany and teak lap strake and elegant in design at 14 feet, she has motor to run from Zaca to shore. There were apparently two of these?

My fall garden is so lush I thought I would share it like I have been sharing the produce. There are cukes, green beans, peppers, sugar snap peas, radish, turnips, spinach, mustard and Swiss chard among other things needing picking and eating. All grown in raised beds with trellises every eight feet and across top to increase growing surfaces and surrounded by concrete blocks set in crushed granite paths.

Each bed is exactly four feet wide and sections are eight feet, four thirty foot sections gives 120 feet of gardens, plus another kitchen garden in front part of house. All organic and enriched composted soil.

Forgot about the squash, those are a few of what I found doing photos.

Here's that smile to go with the tee shirt. And the smile is for Corey and Simone who are plowing through a giant pile of clutter to clean out the sun room and Boat Palace Annex so we can repair damage, paint it, re-paper it, put down new ceramic tile and have it ready to be used by spring. After 20 years of waiting to get it finished, I will have a big open space again for use. And clean again!

We once built boats here, small ones, and I'd like to again.

These are canoe coffins by a friend of mine named Dennis Bartlett down in South Texas. Dennis owns a canoe building company called Phoenix Boat Works that hand builds each. He showed these at the plyWooden Boat Festival in Port Aransas, Texas and they were voted best in show by attendees. Against a pack of well built and designed boats in the show I will add.

My friends Cathy and Chris Tomsett built this self designed houseboat they named Scruffy which they cruise extensively. I laughed at Chris who told Mr that he designed it as he went and remodeled it as he built it. They use their stretched John Welsford designed dinghy, a Sherpa increased in length only by 15 percent, to sail and row. They have a 24 foot Atkins yacht in Puget Sound named Plover that they cruise with the Sherpa as well.

What a couple! They met and married on the Texas 200 but not the same year. Chis was one of the four sailors that I awarded the Spirit of the Red Scamp award to. I hope Cathy knows it is hers too.

Farewell dinner with myself out on porch overlooking Port Aransas marina after the plyWooden Boat Festival last weekend down in Texas. Restaurant and view was great, so we're the blackened shrimp tacos with Asian Cole slaw and sautéed green beans, remoulade sauce. Thought of chef Paul Prudhomme of New Orleans, LA who had just died last week.

Paul popularized this and when he first came out I tried it at home, almost smoked and burned down house. Told Paul who laughed that huge laugh of his and said "Never try this without a high heat commercial stove and a high intensity kitchen fan to suck out the smoke."

Goodbye Paul but not blackened seafood.

View of the packed harbor at Port Aransas marina that I watched from balcony as I ate my lunch. What a world away is this clutter of large power boats from the small homebuilt boats I had just spent weekend with during the plyWooden Boat Festival in Port Aransas, just to South of this photo at the marina exhibition show grounds.

My farewell lunch of blackened shrimp tacos with Asian slaw and remoulade sauce, accompanied by some of the best Haricots Verte that I have ever tasted. Eaten out on balcony of the Trout restaurant in Port Aransas, Texas at the end of a wonderful show at plyWooden Boat Festival last weekend. Can't wait to go back next year.

Perfectly perfect name for this white wine from New Zealand and label is spectacular . Have a case of assorted wines from New Zealand that I bought while buying a van load of beer for the Sail Oklahoma Alumni party at last weekend's plyWooden Boat Festival in Port Aransas, Texas.

This one is for me to wear and remember a good friend who convinced me I was still beautiful, especially just natural. I will admit that I had to hear it from a lot of people before the truth of this sank in.

So, in celebration of a beautiful smile, I had my teeth fixed to perfection. I will get a lot of Use out of that investment. I smile a lot.

This collage is for my friend Pat Jackson who always inspires me with his Fat Boy Garden and cooking. There were still peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, more beans, chard, spinach, mustard, turnips and a solitary carrot in the Fat Girl Garden. It started raining so harvesting stopped.

In case anyone would like to see what I looked like before I became a boat widow. This is me when I was Jacqueline Ann Hodgson before I married my boat builder husband, Michael Monies.

Boat building ages women for some reason. Hard to explain since we don't do the building.
