**Discovering Edinburgh’s Rich Tapestry: Castle to Chapel**

Welcome to Edinburgh, where every cobblestone street whispers tales of bygone eras and hidden mysteries waiting to be uncovered. Our journey through this captivating city began at the majestic Edinburgh Castle, perched proudly atop Castle Rock, offering panoramic views of the city below.

Descending the historic Royal Mile, we found ourselves amidst the charming lanes of the Old Town, where we paused to admire the stunning architecture of St Giles Cathedral. Its spires reaching towards the sky, St Giles Cathedral stands as a testament to Edinburgh’s rich religious history.

Continuing our stroll along the Royal Mile, we made our way to the regal Holyroodhouse Palace, where we stepped into the footsteps of royalty and explored its grand halls and lush gardens. From kings and queens to intrigue and politics, Holyroodhouse Palace is steeped in centuries of fascinating history.

Venturing beyond the city limits, we embarked on a short journey to Rosslyn Chapel, a hidden gem nestled just seven miles outside of Edinburgh. Made famous by its association with “The Da Vinci Code,” Rosslyn Chapel captivated us with its intricate carvings and enigmatic symbolism.

But our adventures didn’t end there. In the heart of Edinburgh, we stumbled upon the Islander workshop where we immersed ourselves in the tradition of Harris Tweed, designing our own bespoke bags as meaningful souvenirs of our Scottish adventure.

Post two of two. As dawn broke, we found ourselves in the bustling city of Inverness, the gateway to the legendary Loch Ness. Boarding a cruise in search of the elusive Nessie, we scanned the depths of the dark waters, hoping for a glimpse of the mythical creature said to inhabit its depths. Though Nessie remained elusive, the breathtaking scenery of the loch left an impression that will linger for years to come.

Our journey continued with a visit to the haunting ruins of Urquhart Castle, perched on the shores of Loch Ness like a silent sentinel of centuries past. As we bid farewell to the loch, we embarked on a scenic drive through Glen Coe, where towering mountains and cascading waterfalls painted a picture of unrivaled natural beauty.

As we made our way back to Edinburgh traveling from the Highlands to the Lowlands past Stirling Castle and the Kelpies, our Rabbies guide, Owen, with his infectious enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge, continued to share the history of a country he clearly is proud to call home. He truly made this journey one to remember. From ancient ruins to breathtaking landscapes, the Scottish Highlands had captured our hearts and ignited a passion for adventure that will stay with us always. Until we meet again, farewell from the misty moors and rugged peaks of the Highlands.

Post one of two. **Journey Through the Enchanting Scottish Highlands**

Embark on a journey through the rugged beauty and ancient mysteries of the Scottish Highlands, where every turn of the road reveals a new story waiting to be discovered. Our adventure began with a two-day trip with Rabbies , a decision that proved to be worth its weight in gold as we explored the hidden treasures of this mesmerizing region.

Our first stop out of the Edinburgh area was the quaint town of Pitlochry. It stole our hearts with its charming streets and warm hospitality. From there we passed the majestic Blair Castle (a visit we made earlier in our trip) with its generations of Highland History. Then on to Aviemore and a stop at Clava Cairns, where ancient stones whispered tales of bygone eras and mystical rituals. From there, we ventured to the sacred Battlefield of Culloden where the Jacobite army was decimated in April 1746, thus ending the Jacobite Rebellion. Finally on to Inverness for the night, a perfect backdrop for an overnight stay filled with laughter and camaraderie. Of traveling with a tour company, book your own accommodations so you can be in the city center.

**Destination Discovery: Mykonos**

Welcome to the gem of the Aegean Sea, Mykonos! Our recent adventure led us to the exquisite Myconian Kyma resort nestled in the Vrissi area, just a stone’s throw away from Mykonos Town and the picturesque Ornos Beach. From exceptional service to breathtaking views, our stay at Myconian Kyma was nothing short of extraordinary.

One of the highlights of our trip was the unforgettable catamaran sunset sail by Delos. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we found ourselves anchored off the coast of Rhenia, indulging in a refreshing swim and savoring a mouthwatering dinner prepared by the skilled crew. The journey back to the enchanting Little Venice area of Mykonos Town was the perfect finale, offering unrivaled views of the sunset painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. Trust me when I say, these sunsets are undoubtedly the best on the island.

Speaking of Little Venice, this charming neighborhood stole our hearts with its quaint cafes lining the waterfront. However, it’s worth noting that while the drinks may be a tad pricey, the experience of sipping a cocktail while gazing out at the sea is simply priceless. After all, when you’re paying for a view as stunning as this, every sip is a celebration of the beauty that surrounds you.

Mykonos is more than just a destination; it’s a sensory experience that leaves an indelible mark on your soul. Whether you’re lounging on the pristine beaches, wandering through the labyrinthine streets of Mykonos Town, or soaking in the vibrant nightlife, every moment on this island feels like a dream come true. St.Andrews is known for its golf and the Olde Course (all 7 courses for that matter) are prestigious, but there is history to be discovered. Only need a day to explore this quaint town with great shopping and restaurants. 1️⃣Stopped at Dunfermline Abbey(burial place of Robert the Bruce) on our way from airport. 3️⃣Swilcan Bridge at the Old Course (open to the public on Sundays to walk). 4️⃣St Andrews chapel 5️⃣St Andrews St.Salvatore Hall 6️⃣St Andrews Castle ruins. 7️⃣St Andrews Cathedral ruins 9️⃣St Mary’s college at St Andrews 🔟 tartan scarves available all over Scotland in cashmere and the softest lambs wool.

Fortunately I have a Dutch friend who shared with me the delicacies not to be missed in Amsterdam. 1️⃣ De Carrousel is exactly what it sounds like. An old carrousel converted into a pannenkoukenhuis (pancake house). Think crepe mixed with pancake, these large thin pancakes can be made with just about anything you want. I tried cinnamon and apples. This top rated pancake house is close to the Rijksmuseum.l so a fun place w to grab breakfast either before or after your museum visit. 5️⃣Stroopwafels are a must. Get them hot and gooey. I stopped into Hans Egstorf 8️⃣Frites are no ordinary fry. I went simple with spicy ketchup but the sky’s the limit when adding toppings. I stopped at Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx. Served in paper cone from walk up stand from this Little Nine Streets” neighborhood gem, they are make an excellent mid afternoon pick me up snack. And finally 1️⃣0️⃣ Dutch cheese. Partial to the aged Gouda myself but be sure to visit a cheese store to sample all they have to offer. Delicious!

Just returned from Amsterdam where I checked off a bucket list item: tulip gardens in Holland✅. The weather was chilly, damp, and windy but didn’t disappoint. The garden is huge and the tulips were on full display bringing a little color to the dreary day. Easy to get there when you buy a combo ticket for round trip bus transportation from Amsterdam and admission into the gardens. But GO EARLY! Gets crowded by noon. Avoided peak time by renting a bike at the garden for 11 euros and set off through the fields. Routes are well marked so a guided tour isn’t necessary.
