Very sad to hear about the passing of Cokie Roberts. Had the honor to meet her as the Mistress of Ceremony for charity kick-off event I co-chaired in memory of my sister-in-law, The Amy Strelzer Manasevit Research Fund in partnership with The Marrow Foundation that launched in 1998. This fund has since become a $110 million dollar research program to help with post transplant marrow complications and help more researchers save lives and life longer and healthier lives as a result. Cokie was so genuine. She greeted each of us on the committee as life long friends and after talking to Stu and Amy's family, weaved in the most beautiful stories about Amy as if she knew her forever. Thanks to Stuart Strelzer who was at ABC at that time - the best of the best came out to support this event including Bob Iger (now Disney Chairman), Peggy Flemming, Cokie Roberts, Robert Douglas Wilson of ABC Sports Directing Fame.... I still smile when I think of Cokie and her lovely way of engaging us and feeling part of us and caring. May you rest in peace.
