Clean Garments (Exodus 30:29)
“They must wash with water whenever they go into the Tabernacle to appear before the Lord and when they approach the altar to burn up their special gifts to the Lord—or they will die!” (Exodus 30:20)
When Yahweh God directed the priest to clean themselves before entering into his presence, he was saying to their benefit not His. Our sins can’t hurt him but they will kill us. Our self conscious awareness of our sins are only heightened by the smell of the clothing that participated in such sins. Thus, it is our conscience that will cause us to die in His presence due to the self awareness of my depraved state in the midst of such a holy God.
Therefore, he advises us to wash ourselves clean before entering His presence and out of love less we die.
In the same, he also invites to wash ourselves in the blood of His Son Jesus even now. In that manner, He will smell His Son when He sees us and not our sins. In this way, we are adopted into His family.
Much like Jacob borrowed the clothing of His brother Esau to trick His father into blessing Him instead of His older brother, we too our blessed due to smell and clothing of our older brother Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. In our case though, it is not a trick for God well knows all things and sees all things and He purposely or orchestrated His Sons sacrifice in our behalf. Jesus came to Earth to complete God’s greatest rescue mission ever, namely:
- To die in our behalf so we can live forever with
But not only did He die, but He is also came back to life 3 days later. And because of this only He is deserving of all the glory, honor, and praise. As John wrote in his prophecy of the future:
“And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.” Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.” And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.””
Revelation 5:9-13 NLT
And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe an
