We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Here at Capt. Longbeard’s fishing adventures we are thankful for all our customers, friends and our family. Without all the support from everyone this would not be possible. Thank you and look forward to more fun outdoor adventures.

The other day I had the pleasure of taking out a group of coast guard buddies that were down for this upcoming Veteran’s Day weekend. We spent most of the morning running away from the catfish and undersized schooling trout. Even though we didn’t get on that hot bite they were able to grind out a nice box of fish to enjoy with their family. They worked hard and had a fun time giving each other a hard time while fishing. Here at captain longbeards fishing adventures we want to thank all our veterans for their service and sacrifice. Also as a waterman we want to thank current and retired coast guard personnel for being there for us, if we are ever in a time of need.

What a fun day that we had on the boat. Met a guy at the bait store that was in from NY. He comes down to visit family and for the past 5 years he has been debating on doing an inshore trip. Well after talking he decided to give us a chance. Started out catching some sheephead and some trout. Went up in the delta chasing the birds and was able to knock off a buck list fish for him with a nice jack on light tackle (15lb braid and 20 lb leader). Finished up with him getting a nice limit of reds ranging from 22 to 25 inches. Lots of laughs, life stories and fishing does not get any better then that. Looking forward to some more trips in the future.

Had a wife contact me to do a surprise afternoon birthday fishing trip for her husband while they were down for a conference. We caught a lot of fish and kept a couple for them to have a chef cook up some a nice birthday dinner. Look forward to seeing them again next October.

Fishing is hot and only going to keep getting better, won’t be long before some cast and blasts will be in our near future. We are looking forward to the trips coming up soon.

It was another fun tournament weekend with Mrs. Longbeard. Wasn’t the size we were looking for but took first place. Lost some good ones today. Tripletail season is starting to slow down. So contact me soon as you can as I will only have a handful of tripletail trips the next couple of weeks. The reds, flounder and trout are doing good and will only be get better as the fall approaches.

This weekend I got to spend time fishing against some of the best fisherman in mobile bay. I spent the first day by myself chasing triple tail going 1 of 4 with the one caught being under size. Next day Mrs. Longbeard was able to join me on the boat with me chasing them. With her good luck and her awesome driving skills we got us a good one to take first place and we got her first triple tail going 2 for 3 in the final day. It was awesome to see old friends and some new friends at the weigh in. Looking forward to next year.

Got a phone call from a repeat customer wanting to take his son out to catch fish for a birthday party fish fry and for him to catch his first triple tail. I would say we got what they needed done. Now time to enjoy some fun marina/dock time with the family.

Today’s charter was a fun change of pace. Today was more about teaching and learning. Was able to take a father and son out that wanted to learn more about fishing and the area. We spent a lot of time going around the bay and pointing out potential fishing locations and what to look for while locating fish. They spent time learning different styles of fishing, fish Identification, lure selection and general fishing rules. We did do some fishing and a lot of catch and release. Did keep a couple for them to learn how to clean and cook for their family tonight.

Man what a fun time out with some awesome clients/friends. It was hot fishing but we got every one their first triple tail. I did learn today that you got to sing Backstreet Boys to make big ones bite. It always fun when you have a crew on the boat catching fish and goofing off even when it’s 100 degrees outside.

We were dodging storms all weekend. Was able to put a trip together Saturday morning in between the rain storms. Had a family from Tennessee come in town and wanted to take the girls and their friends catching. That is what we did and had a fun time talking about all the fish they caught and showing them around the area (even stopped for a little swimming). Hopefully the weather gets better for our future trips.

Spent the day enjoying rose (deckhand longbraids) get her first place win in triple tail. I love fishing and love taking people fishing. But watching rose progress in her fishing abilities and her enjoying the competition of fishing is the best part of it all. Also love seeing the support our family and from her friends for her accomplishments. Plenty more to come out of her in the future with her fishing and outdoor life.

Thank y’all so much for coming fishing but also thank y’all for your support. I appreciate every bit of your support, your encouragement, and supporting a new small business. The fishing was fun but being on the water with great friends makes it even better. If you get the feeling to watch some of the best bulls in the business go watch the Bull Horn Ranch and Rodeo show up and show out.
