A graduate of Meridian Junior HS, LCPL Andrew Patten was a US Marine killed in Afghanistan and buried in Section 60 at ANC. Every year the school visits his resting place, and holds a memorial ceremony in his honor.

He goes on an NPS Ranger lead walking tour about the medical treatment President Lincoln received after being shot. One of my last groups left multiple wreaths, made by a retired USAF member from used military uniforms, at multiple graves and memorials at Graves of; Claire Chenault of "The Flying Tigers", Audie Murphy, Joe Lewis, Lee Marvin and Field Marshall Sir Dill as well as at the Special Operations and Glenn Miller Memorials
