May 2023 The famed Electric Lady recording studio in the Greenwich Village area of NYC. It was commissioned by rock musician Jimi Hendrix in 1968 and designed by architect John Storyk and audio engineer Eddie Kramer by 1970. Hendrix spent only ten weeks recording in Electric Lady before his death that year, but it quickly became a famed studio used by many top-selling recording artists from the 1970s onwards, including Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, and David Bowie. Located at 52 W 8th St. New York, NY 10011 They do not allow you to tour the inside as musicians are working, but just seeing the place was a thrill for me. I was wearing my Led Zeppelin shirt that day and a guy who came out the studio and passed by me while I was marveling at the door, imitated the opening guitar part of Kashmir from the Physical Graffiti album by Zep. I said "Led Zep hell yeah"! THAT in itself was so awesome, as it is my fav Zep song, and I had just been at the building in the east village that was used for the cover of the album!!!
