Floyd County does not have large commercial lodging businesses. While this gives us a quaint, small-town feel that contributes greatly to our visitor appeal, it also means that we do not have substantial transient lodging taxes. Floyd County’s tourism initiative has required a blend of both public and private monies to support a county-wide effort – particularly at initial phases. Exciting news! Starting tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 11th, the Blue Ridge Parkway will officially reopen from milepost 0 to 198! This 198-mile stretch of scenic byway, from Shenandoah National Park down to Virginia Route 685 (Skyview Drive/Turkey Ridge Road near Fancy Gap), has been closed due to damage from Hurricane Helene, but thanks to the incredible work of the Blue Ridge Parkway crews, it’s ready to welcome visitors again.

Even better, the Mabry Mill Cultural Site will also be open, just in time for peak fall foliage! 🍁🍂
