jewelry. I'm a warm glass artist and sculptor. Warm glass is the process of fusing and shaping glass in a kiln. My work includes glass, copper, steel and aluminum. I specialize in glass art for the garden. I get my design ideas from the wonders of nature. I enjoy working in my flower gardens and love to have unique art to add interest to the gardens.
Flowers have a natural cycle, unfortunately they don't stay in bloom for long. They make people happy, are colorful and bright. They can transform any location and any mood. The colors I choose reflect the glow of the sun. The pieces are bold and oversized for strong visual effects and are designed for indoors and out. I like to create my own expression of these flowers to keep the color in the gardens longer. People like certain flowers that make them happy or can relate with. My tall bright yellow sunflowers bring a smile to any garden. The sun catching glow from the orange and red poppies also get a lot of attention. Some of my creations are single flowers and others are clusters including glass and or handcrafted copper leaves. I also bring my work indoors as glass wall art, glass wall sculptures, and table centerpiece arrangements. I have always had an interest in art and design. My formal education is in mechanical design. After twenty years in
the automotive design industry, I had the opportunity to change careers. I love working with my hands and enjoy creating one of a kind objects. After attending some warm glass workshops, I was hooked on working with glass. I am also self taught in silversmithing of fine jewelry. I started working with glass in 2005. At first it was with stained glass, but my interest soon grew to warm glass. I
love cutting pieces of glass and usign the kiln to shape my flowers or other pieces of art. I soon started to incorporate metal into some of my designs. Glass and metal are a great combination of materials for a sculpture. I'm constantly developing new ideas to grow as an artist. I have also incorporated glass into my fine jewelry.
