? Throughout the month of April, crews have been working along the Sanibel Causeway and on the south (beach) side of McGregor Boulevard to install marine mattresses. These underground erosion control devices, weighing in at 9,000 lbs. each, will help to reinforce the shoreline.

This weekend! April 6th and 7th at Alliance for the Arts 10091 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers is Rock the Arches our 4th, biggest, and riskiest event to date. 2 Days, 11 Musical Acts, Car/Truck Show, Arts/Crafts, raffles/silent auctions and Beer/Wine/Cocktails. With over $3K in donation in-kind giveaways each day; our raffles will be like playing the lottery. Help us save the history and nostalgia, that is the remaining pieces of the front door to Fort Myers Beach (1924-1979 accidently torn down) by incorporating them into a Commemorative Arch, with interpretive signage and an etched brick pathway for you to leave a legacy.

It’s as simple as that, folks. If you caught ‘em, we want ‘em, and we’ll even throw in a $50 bounty!

Our researchers are looking to work with you to sample the reproductive organs of harvested cobia. When you donate a harvested cobia, you get a $50 reward and help our researchers collect valuable information by sampling harvested cobia’s reproductive organs to determine if and where they spawn along Florida’s coasts.

If you harvest a cobia during September, arrange for a biologist to meet you and get a $50 reward:

Fish must be kept whole or filleted carcass with organs intact on ice. If you catch a tagged cobia, we ask that you do not harvest it. Instead, please support our work by taking a picture of the tag and reporting the following information to the phone number for your region: tag number, fork length, date, and general location of the catch. This data is being collected as part of a three-year project to better understand the reproductive habits off Florida’s coast.
