It is with a heavy heart that we write about Jemma, an 8 year old Bullmastiff, who passed away unexpectedly in July. Sue had the pleasure of spending time with Jemma. She was a gentle girl with soulful brown eyes. She loved being with her Mum and younger Bullmastiff "brother" Beni. Everyone who met her would instantly fall in love with her sweet personality. Jemma's favorite pastime was lounging on the living room couch or lounging on the deck in the sun--key word--LOUNGING. She would spring into action only if she heard the shake of the cookie jar. Jemma also loved to take trips in the family RV on fun excursions and to the many dog shows that Beni competes in. She was the perfect cheerleader who was happy to be on the sidelines for her brother. It is never easy losing our furry clients and Jemma holds a special place in our hearts. We will always miss her. Our thoughts are with her Mum.

Losing a pet is very sad for the family, but losing two in a short time span is even more heartbreaking. Sue had the pleasure of knowing both little CJ and his brother Scooby. CJ was 10 and had been with his family for 6 years. He was a sweet, affectionate little guy with a BIG dog personality. One of his favorite places to be was in his doggie bed in the middle of the action with his family, just in case a crumb hit the floor. One of his signature moves was multiple spins in a perfect circle while waiting for a cookie! He was both a cuddler and a 5 lb. guard dog. According to Sue, Scooby was an equally sweet and mellow guy, except on a walk. He would pull with excitement. He could never pass up rolling in the grass or snow except when he was “hunting,” but never catching, squirrels and bunnies. Sue misses both CJ and Scooby. Kathy took over Scooby’s walks. She noted too what a strong boy he was, but as they continued their walks, he became a joy to walk and Kathy really looked forward to their walks. Scooby always looked out the front door and watched her leave, pulling at her heartstrings. In his last few months as he became ill, they walked a little slower and spent time relaxing in the shade. She shared lots of treats and kisses with him on their last walk. Scooby and CJ had a human brother and sister, and we know that they and Mom and Dad miss them. We miss them too. Perhaps there is some solace in knowing that Scooby and CJ are together at Rainbow Bridge.

Eliza, one of our wonderful Wagalicious dogs, recently passed away at age 16. Both Leah and Linda had the pleasure of doing Monday through Friday walks for her for several years. She was a sweet dog, but when it came to walking, if she did not want to go in a certain direction, you were NOT going in that direction. She did mellow as she grew older, and Linda could cajole her into continuing. Eliza loved treats. Leah was a sucker for her big puppy dog eyes and would often give her treats at both the start and end of her walks. Even as Eliza got older and didn’t always finish her meals, she always had room for treats. She loved the mailman and could spot the mail truck a mile away. She would always give a little hop when he would toss her a cookie. Her greying face gave her away as a senior dog, but she was spry until the last few months. She would finish each walk with a sprint up the hill back to her house. Leah and Linda could barely keep up! Leah and Linda miss Eliza very much, but we are honored to have walked her in her golden years. We know that Eliza’s family finds the house lonely without her, but Eliza is eating all the treats she could ever want at Rainbow Bridge.

One of our wonderful Wagalicious dogs recently passed away. Timber loved his off-leash adventure trips with Mom. In the house, he would follow her around and really glom on. When Timber stayed at Linda’s house, she became the substitute “glomee” although not nearly as satisfying as Mom! He was extremely patient with all of Linda’s dress up foolishness, although getting him to sit still enough to keep the graduation mortarboard from slipping off was a bit of a challenge! He enjoyed sitting at the slider watching for whatever critters might be passing through the yard. He was fine with any of his fellow pooches who might be at Linda’s house, but at heart he was a people dog. He was a great cuddler. We know that Timber’s family misses him very much. We miss him too.
