Brides and Grooms - will you take the others last name? A decision for every marriage! Our average is a little lower - about 70%. I marry many female professionals (doctors, lawyers, ect.) and that is often who chooses to NOT change their name, as all the licenses, degrees, business names/corp agreements) - it's huge to make that change. Surprise weddings are great - when the Bride and Groom want to surprise their guests and family. Some couples might enjoy this, but marriage is both a legal and loving action. One person can't get a license - and both need to be excited about the wedding. I have refused two one-person ideas - even parents wanting to surprise both without asking. These are great when both know and plan the surprise.

After being part of thousands of ceremonies, and almost as many receptions I have seen many versions of ‘cutting the cake/couple sharing’. It’s a beautiful tradition that has evolved from the original breaking bread – from Roman times. However, many see this as a op to make it humorous with a little frosting on someone’s nose – or face. But we have seen much more aggressive – or even violent attempts to make this something it’s not. I witnessed one Bride’s trip to the hospital, during her reception when cake was forced into her nasal cavities and sinuses. Its not funny – or right. Here is a link where this once again went way too far – SADLY!

No children weddings are coming back! This was standard years ago, but family weddings with children attending became common about 20 years ago. Be CLEAR in your invitations on restrictions. Keep in mind even 16-17 year olds can present issues when alcohol is served and present.

She was also unfriended on Facebook and blocked on WhatsApp after seeking "clarity" on an issue before the wedding.

We have been providing several ways to keeps guests use of cell phones (pics and video) from ruining a couples ceremony for years, including a very close version of this one. If a couple want to do this, or other ideas we have - as well as a ceremony to bring real emotion and excitement - fun and so much more for every wedding.....call ME! 😄

We have cancellations from time-to-time. Generally its a couple who decide they don't like each-other. Covid brought new reasons. But twice in many decades we have had a death. Both times we were unable to back-fill the date. But this is one time we refund. This is both sad - and infuriating. Condolences to the family and the Groom for this loss.

In a horrible turn of events, a bride died suddenly before her wedding. And when the groom tried to get a refund from the photography company, it mocked him.

Bavarian Inn Lodge – Frankenmuth, MI October 2, 2022

This past Sunday, I had the honor to officiate a beautiful, and very different ceremony! Many, many family and friends participated, with great choices to make for a unique event!

The ceremony was in the late morning, and being a bit chilly then the ceremony was indoors under their beautiful pergola. We had 3 guest readers before the ceremony started, and 5 guest readers during the ceremony. A very large family sand unity, was a great addition – with ‘11’ people participating. My largest one ever! And great personal vows shared by the Bride and Groom!

And let me not forget I was not only supported by great staff at the Lodge, but my great friends/Mary Ann Ross-Michigan’s best DJ, and Karen Fordos/who gets credit for these wonderful posted images, and the great fun both ladies brought to the ceremony and reception. And the cutest ring bearer – John. He was so great!

I would also like to thank the Frankenmuth EMS. One of our groomsmen had a medical emergency, and with guests helping, and my dear wife providing an ice pack until Paramedics arrived and attended to him, we were able to complete our ceremony! (The groomsman is ok, and even rejoined the festivities later – thank you Frankenmuth EMS!)
