Audiobooks vs. real books? What’s your go-to while you’re traveling?

Or maybe you’d prefer to skip both and opt for a movie or podcast on the plane ride.

When I’m traveling, I prefer travel magazines and podcasts because I can get rid of the magazines when I am done so I am not carrying them the whole trip, & then I have podcasts downloaded for comedic relief or meditations as needed (I love how fast these download because of course I do not remember to do it until I am sitting at my gate in the airport).

I get asked quite a bit what my favorite destinations are, and the truth is, it all depends on the type of trip. For example:

Costa Rica is great for adventure travel and nature lovers, and while it’s awesome for romance travel and family vacations in many cases, it’s not necessarily a good fit for travelers who like to just relax on the beach during the day while enjoying resort entertainment at night.

I’m a big believer in not settling for cookie-cutter trips created for someone else. Why do that when you can have your cake and eat it too by planning a custom trip!

Every destination has its time and place, and part of what I do is help clients figure out where to go based on their travel preferences and wish list items.

How to make the most of Google Maps when you travel 🔎

➡️ Save Offline Maps: Before you go, download maps for your destination by tapping the location, choosing "Download," and voilà! Now you can navigate without internet.

➡️ Explore with Street View: Here`s a cool trick! Drop the adorable yellow peg man on the map and virtually stroll through the streets. It`s like being there already. Do this around your hotel to get familiar with nearby places.

➡️ Discover Nearby Places: This is one of my favorites! Use the "Explore" feature to find attractions, restaurants, bars, parks, you name it, all in your vicinity. It`s like having a local guide right in your pocket!

Pro honeymoon tip coming at you! 💍🥂

Before you pick your honeymoon location, consider the ratio of time you’ll spend traveling versus the time you’ll actually spend ON your honeymoon.

If you’ve only got a week to spend somewhere exotic and romantic with your sweetie to celebrate your new life together, take into consideration that some of the more far-flung destinations that are popular right now (I’m looking at you, Maldives!) also includes a pretty long flight, and possibly 2-3 connection flights depending on where you’re flying out from.

So what should you do?

I’m always a fan of spending as much time ON vacation as possible to make sure you can fully enjoy yourself and soak it all up before it’s time to head back to reality.

So if you can only carve out a week, I recommend exploring places closer to home.

But if you can carve out 10-14 days, even 3 weeks to a month, then far flung it is!

Either way, your itinerary should be tailored to the experience you want — that includes deciding how long you actually need to *truly* enjoy the full experience. Reach out to me for tailored recommendations.

Summer is, without a doubt, the busiest travel season in Europe. So, if you’re headed there this summer, remember to:

✅ Plan and book your sightseeing in advance — some sites have limited tickets daily. And even better, book a ticket that allows you to skip the line so you don’t spend hours waiting.

✅ Pack smart. I always carry a packable poncho or umbrella for surprise torrential downpours. And I always have a scarf as well, just in case restaurants are chilly or a religious site requires a little more coverage.

✅ Choose your day bag wisely. I try to avoid backpacks because they can be hard to monitor. I like to opt for a crossbody bag or satchel instead — these are much easier to prevent theft.

✅ Eat away from the crowds. I always like to venture 2-3 blocks away from the tourist sites when it’s time to eat. You’ll find more authentically local cuisine, and you’ll avoid the higher prices in touristy areas.

4 Totally Underrated Travel Essentials ✈️

A Packable Backpack Or Duffel: You never know when you’ll have a bag mishap or want to bring home souvenirs that won’t fit in your luggage. A packable bag is a nice thing to have, just in case.

A Packable Jacket: Depending on where you’re going, this is a good thing to have in your arsenal as a contingency plan.

A Portable Charger + Backup Cords: Depending on where you’re going, finding new chargers may or may not be easy. I like to bring a backup phone charger and a portable charger just in case.

Sanitary Wipes: It’s never a bad idea to have these in your back pocket when you need them. Whether it’s for keeping things fresh, or in case you’re somewhere that doesn’t have TP readily available. (Yes, there are countries that don’t typically offer TP)

Making sure my clients leave for their travels with the right essentials in their travel bags is just one of the things I do as a travel advisor.

Packing isn’t my favorite task, and probably not yours, either.

Luckily, this app helps lighten the load by streamlining the process. You can easily create a packing list based on the length of your trip, destination, and climate of your destination, or customize it to your specific needs. Once you’ve finalized your list, you can either print it out or access it right from your phone.

✈️ Bimble
How many times have you been recommended a restaurant, bar, or bookstore only to forget what it was a day later? Bimble works as a bookmarking and list-making system so that you can keep track of all the places you hear about, then recommend them to others. It’s a great excuse to chat with people on your travels and note down their suggestions.

✈️ Urbs
If you love a walking tour, Urbs is a must.
