NOLA is all about the lively atmosphere, and you know what? The amazing food is a big part of it!
Delicious food plays a significant role in Mardi Gras celebrations. Carnival season is all about indulgence and celebration, and that extends to the dinner table just as much as the streets. Many dishes are designed to feed a crowd, such as the classic red beans and rice. This dish is traditionally served on Mondays, also known as "wash day" and can stretch to feed an entire household. Jambalaya, another hearty favorite, is commonly served at Mardi Gras events. It combines rice with meat, seafood, and vegetables.

Of course, we can't forget the famous king cake, a sweet brioche-like pastry filled with cinnamon, sugar, and sometimes cream cheese. The king cake is an iconic part of Mardi Gras celebrations. Inside the cake, a tiny plastic baby represents the baby Jesus and brings good luck to the person who finds it in their slice. The cake is also symbolizes the three kings who brought gifts to baby Jesus during his birth and is often decorated in the Carnival colors of purple, green, and gold.

The Bacchagator float is named after the mythical god of wine and celebrations, Bacchus, and the state reptile of Louisiana, the alligator. The Krewe of Bacchus is known for creating innovative and fun floats, and the Bacchagator is just one example of their creativity and love for a good party. The alligator theme is also a nod to the swamps and bayous that surround New Orleans and the unique culture that develops in this region.

New Orleans and Universal Studios Mardi Gras Parades each have their own unique routes but share a similar lively atmosphere. While Universal Studios' parade takes place along Hollywood Boulevard and through New York, capturing the vibrant city ambiance reminiscent of New Orleans, it offers a safe and family-friendly environment. This year’s concert series will showcase ten live performances by some of the biggest names in music. Grammy-winner DJ Khaled, the artist behind the chart-topping hit "Sweet but Psycho" - Ava Max, and five-time Latin Grammy winner Luis Fonsi will take the stage.
