Whacked a bunch of fat wintertime redfish yesterday. 🤌

Fish were stacked up behind a reef on a drop off gorging finger mullet and shad on an outgoing tide. Once their location was found it was one after another working white/chartreuse paddle tails.

These fish are definitely preparing themselves for the artic blast we are getting next week. Several 13lb fish and even a 14lb just a few inches overslot. Talk about some fun! 🙌

We got on an insane bite yesterday from sun up till 2pm. 🙌

Nicholas snagged his limit before 8am catching reds under birds. After that it was non stop sightcasting upper slots in crystal clear water till we left. 🙏

One of those days you look forward to for the fall time! Fall is coming close to a wrap as the fish are starting to enter their winter pattern. Looking forward to some easy pickings as things get colder! 🥶

🏆 Tourney Recap 🏆

Me and my tourney partner Cory Witt snagged the dub yesterday for the Breknell Kayak Open Benefit ran by Elite Fishing Series. This was a charity tournament to help raise funds for a fellow kayak angler couple and all proceeds were given to them. 🙏

It started off with a scouting trip the day before where we found some quality upper slot and oversized fish. Conditions were cold and cloudy all day with high winds. But the bite was phenomenal. Blow ups everywhere and quite a few fish sightcasted. 🙌

Come tourney day the forecast was showing lower winds, warmer temps and some sun, so we were looking forward to it.
Nope. The wind was blowing much stronger. We were facing 30mph winds for the first half of the day. This was making things difficult for casting and covering ground. On the brightside it was warm and sunny. 🌞

We stuck with our plan and hit the areas we found good fish the previous day. But they weren't around. We moved around and hit some bayous close to our hot spots and Cory landed the two fish that gave us the win. Including a 10lb pig. Only 3 fish were caught from 930-10am. After that we spent the rest of the day covering new grounds with zero fish caught. It's like the redfish exited the marsh. 🙃

Little did we know we didn't even need to cover the 13 miles that we did. Got back to weigh in and only a few other teams even brought in fish. Very tough conditions for the small area we were allowed to fish.

All in and all at the end of the day, the only thing that mattered is some really great people showed up to support friends in need. Made it all worth it. 🤙

Stuck some 🐖 fish on another quick afternoon trip today.

There wasn't alot of surface activity going on but they were posted up in their usual spots around bends and drains. 3 overslots with the biggest at 32" and 2 keepers.

Fish were fired up and fighting like they just drank a monster energy drink lol. Gotta love this time of year. You literally only need a few hours to smack a limit. 🙌

Today was one of those days you hope and dream for when fall time comes around. It started off with us sightcasting shallow cruising reds on the low tide. 🤌

So many redfish around us that 3 of them were literally sightcasted by dropping the lure in front if my kayak. 😅

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better. We ended up casting into schools of upper slots for 2-3 hrs. It was Jason's first time casting into schools so quite a few opportunities were missed. 👍

But he still managed to land one nice upper and two smaller slots from earlier in the day. The rest of the upper slots were released to live another day. Thanks for booking Jason! 🙏

Solid weekend of kayak fishing here on the uppercoast. 🔥

All the water and shrimp that has been pushed way up in the grass is slowly moving out and the game fish are loving it. 🙌

The reds have been honed in on shrimp. Popping cork with gulp is what got it done Friday on the low tide. Paddle tails got it done Saturday once the water came in from the east winds. 👍

The next 3 weeks are booked up so get with me if you want to take advantage of the fall bite before it's over! 🤙

Easy limit by 8am this morning. The fall bite is picking up and I can't wait to see what the next few weeks has in store...

Whacked em this morning. Repeat client Jorge made some milestones today. Got to cast into 4 large schools of reds working in the middle of the lake and sight casted a huge big ugly in 2 feet of clear water. 😎

He also landed a nice 19" flounder. The reds and big ugly were landed using good ole Knockin Tail Lures and the flattie was caught with a flats bugg by Buggs Fishing.

Gotta love fall time fishing! 🙏

It was a sightcasting bigguns up shallow kind of day. My favorite kind of fishing. 😎

Water was super high but after some hunting we found some hungry fish on the flats. The bigguns were sightcasted with Buggs Fishing Gen 2 redfish curl tails.

As soon as it hit the water near their vicinity they were gobbled right up. 🤌

Fall time fishing is here! Can't wait for some cold fronts to roll through to concentrate these fish.

Pulled in the dub for the biggest red side pot today at the Kemah Clash Kayak Championship held by the Elite Fishing Series.

The day started off with tons of big upperslot and bull redfish busting all around us once we got to our spot at 5am. First cast wasn't till 6 so we had to sit there and listen to the feeding frenzy take place. Once 6am hit, it was tough to get the fish to bite with all the surrounding bait. 🫠

We both managed a 31 inch and 29 inch early which wasnt going to cut it for a redfish tourney (needs to be 20 to 28in slot size).

After some grinding I landed a 27.5 inch 8.85 lb hawg. We were certain we were going to catch plenty of fish as the day continued. But the bite shut off around 8am. We probably casted to several dozen crawling reds and they were not having anything to do with artificial lures. 🤦

Either way we ended the day on a high note with a $1500 check and some sweet trophies!

Congrats to all the winner and participants. It was a grind today for everyone with low winds, brutal summer heat and an overnight feeding frenzy. Till next time!

Had a fun morning chasing reds and chunking plastics with my buddy Kyle Smith. Lots of activity and feeding fish but also hordes of bait on an good incoming tide. Made it difficult to get em to bite, but we finally found some isolated fish.

Caught the first 23" red on the good ole popping cork/gulp setup. The second 29 1/2" was snagged out of a resting school with a Texas Rogue Knockin Tail Lures . And the bonus flattie fell for a chartreuse/white colored knockin tail.

Both reds were released to fight another day and the flattie is ready to be stuffed for dinner! Felt dang good to get out there. Tight lines!

Have been so busy landscaping haven't had much time to guide. Took a father and son out yesterday and the son Nehad caught his first redfish from a kayak using artifical!

The bite was very tough. Only a few reds hanging around in a prime marsh system and TONS of bait. I gave Nehad some quick instructions on how to work a popping cork and he showed us up landing one barely undersized red and one keeper. Thanks for booking Enes and Nehad!

Beautiful afternoon of fishing today with my clients Joe and Brooke from Ohio who were in town early for a cruise out of Galveston. 🙏

The one day I don't bring the go pro we roll up on a school of redfish in 6 inches of clear water. 🤦

The bite was good and quick. Joe landed 4 keeper reds and Brooke landed one. Both their first time catching redfish. 🤌
