🇺🇸 Happy Sunday my friends!

I recently posted that Paris metro signs are as iconic to the image of Paris as the Eiffel Tower.

How about Parisian bistro chairs? I think they’re just as iconic and even more charming.

I actually never noticed how unique and different all these chains are from one restaurant, cafe, bistro to the next. Honestly, I did not plan this out. I just search through my photos looking for bistro chairs and no two are alike.

These chairs await us. They invite us to come, sit, relax, have a drink, a meal, chat with a friend, read a news paper or a book, or just watch the world go by.

I accept the invitation. Who’s joining me?

J'ai récemment posté que les panneaux du métro parisien sont aussi emblématiques de l'image de Paris que la Tour Eiffel.

Et les chaises de bistrot parisien ? Je pense qu'ils sont tout aussi emblématiques et encore plus charmants.

En fait, je n'ai jamais remarqué à quel point toutes ces chaînes sont uniques et différentes d'un restaurant, café, bistrot à l'autre. Honnêtement, je n'avais pas prévu cela. Je viens de parcourir mes photos à la recherche de chaises de bistrot et il n'y en a pas deux qui se ressemblent.

Ces chaises nous attendent. Ils nous invitent à venir, s'asseoir, se détendre, prendre un verre, un repas, discuter avec un ami, lire un journal ou un livre, ou simplement regarder le monde passer.

🇺🇸 Happy weekend my friends!

I’m grateful for the floral shops that brighten my walks on gray Paris days. These floral shops adds to the charm and romanticism of what we love about Paris.

I used to think that flowers were just for special occasions to be gifted by a loved one. But in Paris I’ve come to learn that flowers are for every day that I can buy for myself.

Come to think of it, I think I will go out and buy some flowers now. 💐 Stay tuned to my stories to see what I get.

🇺🇸 Another perspective of Palais Royal from rue de Beaujolais

This street may not be noticed much because it’s on the back side of Palais Royal, but here you will find some interesting places.

📍At No 17: Le Grand Véfour is an old restaurant in Paris frequented by Napoleon Bonaparte and Joséphine, Victor Hugo, & Colette.
📍 Théâtre du Palais-Royal which was initially inaugurated in 1637.

Cette rue n'est peut-être pas très remarquée car elle se trouve à l'arrière du Palais Royal, mais vous y trouverez des endroits intéressants.

🇺🇸 As we head into March and the temps are warming up, these terrace tables are slowly starting to fill up.

To me there’s nothing more quintessentially Parisian as seeing these cafe terraces filled with people enjoying themselves.

🇫🇷 Alors que nous nous dirigeons vers mars et que les températures se réchauffent, ces tables de terrasse commencent lentement à se remplir.

Pour moi, il n'y a rien de plus typiquement parisien que de voir ces terrasses de café remplies de gens qui s'amusent.

🇺🇸 Have you been to see the "Monet - Mitchell" exhibition at the
If not , be sure to go soon as the exhibit runs only until the 27th.

Also, take the time to see the "Joan Mitchell, Retrospective" exhibition downstairs.

I really appreciated her work on its own more than as part of a ´dialogue´ (comparison) with Monet’s work.

🇺🇸 The ambiance in Montmartre is always charming and the Abbesses area of Montmartre is probably one of my favorites.

Back in June 2021 when France opened its borders to Americans, we stayed in this area for 3 months. It was the first time I really got to know and fall in love with Montmartre. Every time I come here, I feel like I’m returning to ‘my old neighborhood’.

FYI…the last pic is of the restaurant They serve the best truffle pasta I’ve ever had and their service is outstanding.

🇫🇷 L'ambiance à Montmartre est toujours charmante et le quartier des Abbesses de Montmartre est probablement l'un de mes préférés.

En juin 2021, lorsque la France a ouvert ses frontières aux Américains, nous sommes restés dans cette zone pendant 3 mois. C'était la première fois que je connaissais et tombais vraiment amoureux de Montmartre. Chaque fois que je viens ici, j'ai l'impression de retourner dans « mon ancien quartier ».

La dernière photo est du restaurant Ils servent les meilleures pâtes aux truffes que j'ai jamais eues et leur service est exceptionnel.

🇺🇸 Views of Sacré Cœur

Did you know it took a hundred years before Sacré Cœur of Montmartre was classified as a French historic monument?

Another fun fact… Did you know that this hill where Sacré Coeur stands is the site where the first bishop of Paris, Saint Denis, was killed in the 3rd century. Legend has it that the Saint picked up his head, washed it in a fountain and continued on his way to the present-day city of Saint Denis.

Saviez-vous qu'il a fallu cent ans avant que le Sacré Cœur de Montmartre ne soit classé monument historique français ?

Autre fait amusant… Saviez-vous que cette colline où se dresse le Sacré-Cœur est le site où le premier évêque de Paris, Saint Denis, a été tué au 3ème siècle. La légende raconte que le Saint ramassa sa tête, la lava dans une fontaine et continua son chemin vers la ville actuelle de Saint Denis.

🇺🇸 Museum, art gallery, bookstore, cafe…all under one roof at Halle Saint-Pierre

This once former market in Montmartre is such a cool and creative space where you can peruse through books, enjoy the current art exhibition and enjoy a latte.

🇺🇸 Happy Sunday my friends!

If you are in Paris and haven’t yet been to the ´Tears of Joy’ installation at L'église de la Madeleine, I implore you to go.

This installation by is only up through tomorrow, Feb. 20th.

However if you can’t make it, the tears are actually for sale with proceeds going towards the renovation of the church.

Si vous êtes à Paris et que vous n'êtes pas encore allé à l'installation 'Tears of Joy' à L'église de la Madeleine, je vous implore d'y aller.

Cette installation de n'est en place que jusqu'à demain, le 20 février.

🇺🇸 Happy weekend my friends!

There’s something special about Montmartre in winter. Honestly, there’s something special each season, but winter gives this village-like neighborhood in Paris a melancholic ambiance.

One can imagine the ‘starving artists’ of yesteryear walking through these streets, stopping at a café for a coffee or maybe even some absinthe. It makes me think of my favorite painting by Edgar Degas, L’Absinthe which can be found at Musée d’Orsay (check-out stories).

Il y a quelque chose de spécial à Montmartre en hiver. Honnêtement, il y a quelque chose de spécial à chaque saison, mais l'hiver donne à ce quartier aux allures de village de Paris une ambiance mélancolique.

On peut imaginer les "artistes affamés" d'antan se promenant dans ces rues, s'arrêtant dans un café pour un café ou peut-être même de l'absinthe. Cela me fait penser à mon tableau préféré d'Edgar Degas, L'Absinthe qui se trouve au musée d'Orsay (récits de départ).

🇺🇸 I just returned home to sunny, but still cold, Paris from sunny and hot Miami. I did get to enjoy dining al fresco in Miami, which is something living in Paris has taught me to love…plus I can’t stand the air conditioning any more.

Soon enough spring will be upon us here in Paris and I will once again enjoy the cafe terraces like this sweet little table at Cyril Lignac] restaurant Le Chardenoux.

🇫🇷 Je viens de rentrer chez moi à Paris ensoleillé, mais toujours froid, de Miami ensoleillé et chaud. J'ai eu l'occasion de dîner en plein air à Miami, ce que vivre à Paris m'a appris à aimer… en plus, je ne supporte plus la climatisation.

Bientôt le printemps sera à nos portes ici à Paris et je profiterai à nouveau des terrasses de café comme cette petite table toute douce du restaurant Cyril Lignac] Le Chardenoux.

🇺🇸 Do you enjoy visiting cemeteries?

Although Cimetière du Père-Lachaise is the most visited cemetery in the world, it’s still a bastion of tranquility.

To me, there’s nothing somber about Cimetière du Père-Lachais. It reveals the history of this amazing city and the people who have made there mark here.

It’s nice to visit with Frédéric Chopin, Édith Piaf, Marcel Proust, Modigliani, Sarah Bernhardt, Oscar Wilde, Yves Montand, Gertrude Stein, and Jim Morrison…amongst others.

🇫🇷 Vous aimez visiter les cimetières ?

Bien que le Cimetière du Père-Lachaise soit le cimetière le plus visité au monde, il reste un bastion de tranquillité.

🇺🇸 Cold temperatures call for an indoor covered terrace. It almost feels like you’re outdoors, yet protected from the cold.

Fortunately it’s a sunny day today and this terrace at Brasserie Les Deux Palais provides a beautiful view of the Palais de Justice.

I generally try to avoid dining in restaurants close to monuments or museums, but I once had a lovely dinner here before attending one of the classical music concerts at Sainte-Chapelle (also across the street).

🇫🇷 Les températures froides appellent une terrasse intérieure couverte. On a presque l'impression d'être à l'extérieur, mais protégé du froid.

Heureusement c'est une journée ensoleillée aujourd'hui et cette terrasse de la Brasserie Les Deux Palais offre une belle vue sur le Palais de Justice.

J'essaie généralement d'éviter de dîner dans des restaurants à proximité de monuments ou de musées, mais j'ai déjà dîné ici avant d'assister à l'un des concerts de musique classique à la Sainte-Chapelle (également de l'autre côté de la rue).

Since it’s the first Sunday of the month, there are many museums that offer free entrances.

However if you want to avoid crowds and see one of the best collections of Monet and Morisot, then is worth paying the entrance fee.

🇺🇸 Did you know the Bouquinistes’ green bookseller boxes are a site?

Because these green boxes line the Seine on both the right and left banks,, the Seine is known as 'the only river in the world that runs between two bookshelves’.

If you come to Paris, this would be an ideal place to buy some gifts for yourself or your loved ones and also support these independent Bouquinistes who are carrying on a long tradition.

🇫🇷 Saviez-vous que les coffrets libraires verts des Bouquinistes sont un site ?

Parce que ces boîtes vertes bordent la Seine sur les rives droite et gauche, la Seine est connue comme «le seul fleuve au monde qui coule entre deux étagères».

We are given a brief history of the venue and then we’re free to roam the theater for photos and videos.
