🌴 Welcome to Paradise – JAMAICA 101
This week's featured destination

Welcome to Jamaica! From the golden beaches of Negril to the lush mountains of Ocho Rios, this island is full of breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and endless adventure.

GETTING THERE: The easiest ways to get to Jamaica is by air or cruise ship port of call. You can fly to Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay or Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston.

CLIMATE: Tropical and hot all year round, with year-round average daytime temperatures of about 86°F. Jamaica does fall in the hurricane belt and has its rainy season April to October. High season is January to April when it is driest and coolest.

LANGUAGE: The official language in Jamaica is English. There is also an unofficial language called Patois, or Jamaican Creole.

Start your journey in San José, then head to the vibrant blue waters of Rio Celeste as you venture into the lush rainforests of Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Day 1: San Jose to Rincon de la Vieja - After an early arrival and departure from San Jose, the group will travel to the famed ethereal blue waters of Rio Celeste. Day 2: Rincon de la Vieja National Park Area - Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before transferring to Rincón de la Vieja National Park where you will embark on a hike in the area to gain a full sense of the tropical and volcanic landscape, while searching for resident wildlife. Travel back to the hotel in the afternoon for free time on the property. Activity options range from ziplining, hiking in the area, and various cultural experiences. (includes breakfast and dinner)

Day 3: Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park Area -Enjoy a full free day in the Rincon de la Vieja area with an abundance of optional activities to choose from. Between hiking, bird watching, or spa treatments and a soak in the hot springs, your day can be as leisurely or busy as you’d like. (includes breakfast and dinner)

Day 4: Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park Area to Playa Flamingo - After breakfast at the lodge the group will travel to Playa Flamingo on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast. Enjoy a CEO-led orientation walk upon arrival to get to know this uniquely set up town, whose central area has remained a pristine beach protected by a large mangrove forest. Then, spend a free evening exploring on your own. (includes breakfast)

Day 5: Playa Flamingo - Spend a full free day in paradise. Opt to prebook a Catamaran excursion to get out onto the water for a whole new view of the Playa Flamingo area. Or choose to enjoy the beach on your own with swimming and sunbathing.

GUARO - Costa Rica's national alcoholic drink made from distilled sugarcane juice. It's known for its clear appearance, mild sweetness, and relatively low alcohol content compared to other spirits like vodka or rum. Here’s a closer look at guaro:

KEY CHARCHATERISTICS:
Flavor: Guaro has a light, slightly sweet flavor with a clean finish, making it versatile for mixing into cocktails or sipping neat.
Alcohol Content: Typically ranges from 30% to 40% alcohol by volume (ABV), depending on the brand and production method.

HOW ITS CONSUMED

✈️ When Travel Plans Hit a Snag… ✈️

Last night, I was up past midnight assisting a client whose flight was suddenly cancelled and there were no good alternative options offered by the carrier. Travel insurance might seem like an extra expense, but it’s invaluable when things go wrong. Unfortunately they had a non-refundable ticket and no travel insurance. I spent hours researching flights, finding alternatives and getting them rebooked to get back on track. Without coverage for unexpected costs they had to book a new flight with a different carrier - paying out of pocket. The cost of the ticket was MORE than what an insurance policy would have cost and the cost of the ticket would have been covered under a delay/interruption event.

This is what dedicated service looks like - being there for my clients when things don't go according to play. My goal is always to provide exceptional support, but having the right protection in place can make a world of difference when life throws a curveball.

💡 The Lesson:
Travel insurance might seem like an extra expense, but it’s invaluable when things go wrong. It can cover unexpected costs, cancellations, and delays, offering you financial protection and peace of mind.

This year has been filled with unforgettable trips I’ve had the joy of planning for my amazing clients.
