HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
Today is about honoring your Dad.
Sadly my Dad passed away in 2008 so I can't spend the day with him but I can honor his memory by telling you all about him!
My Dad was a truck driver, he was an extremely hard worker and he loved Spooky things which is a trait I seem to have inherited.
My Dad & I watched Unsolved Mysteries together when I was little, as I grew up he'd watch horror movies with me & my friends and he loved haunted houses! My Dad was an incredible story teller that had more than a few true ghost stories to share.
My Dad passed away before I became a Ghost Tour Guide but I think he'd be proud of my choices.
I know he would have loved the Ghost Tours & he would have had a lot of fun on the Paranormal Investigations we do. I was lucky my Dad didn't mock my interest in the Paranormal he encouraged sharing Ghost stories and he seemed to be a magnet for ghostly encounters. He also loved to jump out and scare people too. An early memory I have is of a slumber party I was about six or maybe seven years old a bunch of girls stayed over we were telling scary stories and my Dad pushed the water hose through the chimney and started talking through it and making spooky Ghost sounds it scared them all terribly! The fact that my birthday parties were like that when I was so young probably explains a lot about how I became Spooky Gin... anyway
I hope you hug your dad today if you can or call him if you're miles a part. I wish you all could have known my Dad I think you would have really loved him.

DEAR FUTURE GUESTS PLEASE READ
THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
I am no longer accepting tour reservations through
Viator/TripAdvisor
I apologize for the inconvenience.
You can Book Directly through
Spookygalveston.com or Ghosttoursofgalvestonisland.com
If you'd like to book a Tour with me.
That is the ONLY way I can guarantee I will be made aware of the bookings..
But you will find rates are BETTER and more AFFORDABLE IF you book direct because third party sites like Viator/ TripAdvisor up charge and when you book direct from my site you don't have to pay those fees.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
I Always want to provide the BEST quality Tours, Events, and Products and it's extremely disappointing when the tools that are industry standard like Viator/TripAdvisor fail and customers end up feeling frustrated.
That is NEVER something I want my guests to feel and I will always do my best to take care of my customers. So again I will say the only way to book a tour with Spooky Galveston/ Ghost Tours of Galveston is DIRECTLY from my site so I get confirmation of your booking and I can give you the tour you deserve to have.

ATTENTION ATTENDEES OF THE EDGAR ALLAN POE RECITAL AT THE GALVEZ!!!!
Unfortunately Robert Frank just let me know he has tested positive for covid and he will be unable to perform at The Galvez for Friday the 13th.
The Ghostess of the Galvez & myself, Spooky Gin apologize for this inconvenience. We do not want to ruin your Friday the 13th plans and while we are disappointed Robert Frank will not be available to perform we ask that you still join us for Ghost Stories in the Music Room, take a Ghost Tour of the Hotel and if weather permits come visit the beach with us for even more ghostly tales by the water. If you would prefer to skip out on our alternative option and you would rather be refunded I will honor your request and will issue a refund. I sincerely apologize for this unfortunate turn of events no one loves Robert Frank's Edgar Allan Poe Recital's more than I do and I am extremely disappointed you will not be able to witness his talent tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Spooky Gin

Today is not a day of celebration. It is a day to remember those who gave everything so we can have the freedoms we have in this country. It is a day to remember those active duty members whose lives were taken. Not all of their lives were taken in combat. It is important to remember the sacrifices these men and women made to serve this country. They give up their youth, they tax their bodies, are exposed to the worst of humanity and are expected to do whatever they are told in order to keep us safe even if it ends their own life and sometimes it does.
Have a Memorial Day, and remember we get to have the freedoms we do because someone else was willing to sacrifice everything, even their life.
We at Spooky Galveston do our best to honor the memory those who served our country by carefully selecting the appropriate stories to tell on our tours in particular our Galveston Naval Museum Ghost Tours which are led by a Veteran who takes great pride in being able to honor the fallen by telling their stories. We see a lot of former military members and their families book this particular tour because it brings the stories to life in a way that helps non service members understand the sacrifice and what it truly means to give all. Even I (Spooky Gin) had a hard time with this concept until I started working on developing this tour. It wasn't until I watched Tim Stoddard our tour guide that leads this tour give the tour that I really "got it" and I am grateful to him that I can now partially understand. (I never served so I will never fully understand) When I reached out to the Naval Museum and partnered with them to do these tours I had no idea that it would be a profound and impactful experience that would help people understand the sacrifice service members make, or that it would be as well received as it has been. It is an honor to offer a Ghost tour that promotes healing, and understanding and it is only because our tour guide Tim was willing to sacrifice everything and survived the experience that we are able to offer this tour and give our guests this experience. Today we are thinking of the fallen and ask you to do them same.

This:I will be there Respresnting Spooky Galveston
I am VERY proud of the contributions Spooky Galveston has made to the community over the years we've helped and brought awareness to the League-Kempner House, The Galveston Naval Museum, Moody Mansion, The Galveston County Museum and have partnerships like the one with Carriage Haus Rentals that have thrived! We've donated thousands of dollars of "free tickets" to charities and organizations raising money for various reasons. We donated formal dresses to a cause earlier this year too and really I don't generally brag too much about the behind the scenes work but part of our mission is to help the community in the ways we can and I always strive to do just that. I can't do what I do without your support and I appreciate you all for making it possible to do all the incredible things Spooky Galveston has been able to do so far!
The year before last at the Tourism summit the representative for Moody Mansion laughed when I said I wanted to do tours there someday I was told there would never be a Ghost Tour in the house and then last year I did the first ever Ghost Tour in the Mansion. ;) I'm grateful they took a chance on me and we now get to partner for pop up tours. Spoiler alert Things will be popping up on that horizon very soon ironing out details so I can share...
These things only get to happen because you keep showing up and supporting so I hope you will come by my table at the Tourism Summit and say hi so I can thank you in person! I really do appreciate you!

Somewhere deep in the archives of the Galveston Naval Museum there is a photo album that was donated many moons ago. Rhys was kind enough to show it to me a few months ago and she allowed me to take some photos of the contents.
On this Christmas Day I thought it would be fitting to share some of the photos from that book as they are of Galveston's past. As we celebrate the holidays today with friends and family so did Galvestonians of days gone by. The way they lived was completely different than how we do today but they loved each other just as we do now.
Things are always changing and evolving these photos are from 1914-1917. I hope you enjoy this look at the past. I do not know who any of these people are by their given names those have been lost to time, I only know their affection for each other was real by the looks on their faces.
Spooky Galveston is running the Original Strand Ghost Tour today (Christmas day.) If you want to make some memories & hear stories of the past book a tour at Spookygalveston.com
Regardless of how you spend your holiday I am wishing you a blessed holiday filled with love, laughter and memories that will stand the test of time like the ones in these photos have.
Merry Christmas!
