Don’t underestimate the power of small chunks of time to get things done.

Instead of wasting the 15 minutes between meetings, come up with a list of little tasks that you can knock out in 15, 10, or even five minutes:

Answer emails, reach out to a contact, get some industry reading done.

For a few days, take an inventory of how you spend your time, to find out where & how you are using it.

And then think about how you can you change your routine to incorporate more productive work.

Or notice when your energy is best to concentrate on that project you want to finish.

When you are ready for a break, go for a walk or do your favorite form of exercise.

It will help clear your mind for your next endeavor.

Set a "Shut Down" time in the evening.

Setting a time to stop checking emails, texts, and social media a few hours prior to going to bed allows you to decompress, relax and rest.

We need time to just hang out and so do our devices.

Most situations can wait until morning when you are fresh and ready to address them.

A few Quick Tips for your Wednesday -

- Just Start.

- Whatever time of day works best for you.

- Get rid of one thing you don’t use or need anymore.

- Write a to-do list each day, or the night before.

- Do your most important tasks first.

- Get plenty of sleep.

- Set some fun intentions.

Expect the unexpected.

As we know, not everything goes as planned.

Sometimes we begin a project in earnest, and get an urgent phone call and the project gets put on the back burner.

Prepare yourself for the possibility of interruptions.

Jot down a few notes so you remember where you were, and then focus on the interruption.

Once it is taken care of, start by reviewing your notes, refresh your brain, and then pick up the project where you left off.

Make sure to schedule a lot of breaks throughout your day.

We are most productive when we have chunks of focused work followed by short breaks.

Use a timer, if need be, to remind yourself to get up from your desk; grab a snack or some water; go for a short walk, especially now that the weather is more conducive to do so; or listen to a favorite song before getting back to your work.

How good is your timing?

When you know you want to get a couple of things done on a particular day, how tuned in are you to get them completed at the moment you are thinking about it?

Do you find yourself saying - "it's a good thing I did that when I did” because something came up suddenly, right after you finished your ‘thing', and it was perfect timing.

Personally, I find myself saying this a lot. One example is when I work on a client project and realize it is a good thing I did it at that time because the rest of the day ended up being crazy.

Be cognizant of your time and how you want to spend it in the moment.

Limit your hours.

Many people work long hours and think they're getting more done and being more productive.

Instead, cut back on your hours and set a limit - say 6 or 7 hours a day - and get your most essential work done within that limit.

If you know you're only working 6 hours today, you'll be sure to get the important tasks done first and waste less time.

Limits help you to be more effective.

Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." ~Lao Tzu

Clear the top of your desk of all personal mementos.

As much as they may provide inspiration, they can also be a source of stress; cause you to daydream; or stop you from focusing on your work.

Hang your keepsakes on the walls, or place them on shelves.

Give yourself space to work at your desk without distractions.

You'll be amazed at what a difference it makes!

A few Monday Quick Tips:

- Instead of trying to "find" time for necessary tasks, reduce stress by scheduling those tasks.

- Write down an agenda before making a phone call so you remember the important points.

- Build in some flexibility for unexpected tasks that may run over their allotted time. This exercise enables you to make better decisions about how you'll spend your day when your mind is clear and focused on what's important to you.

- Make sure you add some free time to the calendar for activities such as going to the gym, taking a walk, or something else you enjoy.

Approach your emails in terms of how long it will take you to reply to them.

If it will take less than three minutes to respond, get it done now.

If it will take longer than that, set them aside and then, when you have a larger chunk of time, tackle those emails first.

At the end of each day, do a brain dump.

Rather than suppressing the mental energy, release it.

Write down everything in your brain..personal stuff and work info.

Not everything that comes out may have value.

But once it's on paper, your brain frees itself and allows you to rest. Whew!

10/07/2024

Get rid of one 'item' in your home or office that you haven't used in a very long time and is taking up space.

Then do it every day or once a week.

Your room will feel so much bigger, and have a nice energy flow and feeling about it.

Give it a go! You will like the results.

10/04/2024

Appreciate every milestone, big or small.

Give yourself a loud 'Yay' for each step along the way.

If you wait to celebrate that one elusive goal, you might end up waiting a long time.

AND...when you celebrate, include family & friends to take part in your success.

10/02/2024

Slow down.

Stop attempting to race through things you need to get done as there is a good probability you won’t do them well.

Instead, the way to achieve better and more focused work is to simply slow down.

Take a deep breath or two before you start.

By implementing this, you’ll find that just by completing a task at a slower pace you’ll feel less of a mental burden and feel better about moving forward.

Plan Your Day Ahead of Time

A first step to being productive is planning a day's schedule in advance.

Know what you're doing, when you're doing it, and how long it will take, on any given day.

Picture in your mind how your day will play out and when you are going to do a task or project.

Without a schedule, you are likely to miss out on important items.

Write down a detailed plan of the day early morning or even better, the night before.

Write everything you need to do so that you have a sense of direction and know what to focus on next.

This eliminates all guesswork, and a better chance of getting everything done.

Not only that, you will probably finish all you need to do much quicker than you thought.

09/27/2024

Make an extra effort to smile today.

It might be the last thing on your mind, but if you're having a stressful morning (or day), it will help you get through it.

Your smile may even be contagious.

Smile at someone you pass by on the street, in the office, shopping, or wherever you are.

When you smile at someone, you both feel good.
