The Story of Each Stone is a 5-day multi-genre writing and hiking retreat held at Red Rooster Ranch near Glenwood Springs, Colorado, outside of Aspen. This retreat offers 8 participants an opportunity to develop their writing in a small, persona
lized workshop amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Rocky Mountains. Short readings by W.S. Merwin, George Oppen, Virginia Woolf, Mary Oliver, Marilyn Robinson, and Judy Jordan; writing exercises, and workshops will be interspersed with hiking, biking, exploring, and swimming in the nearby natural hot springs. Students will submit a writing sample and outline their goals prior to the workshop, so that writing instruction and outdoor activities can be developed around their needs and interests. Brooke Shaffner will lead this workshop with Pam Brown, a certified trainer based in Evergreen, Colorado who has led group hikes for over a decade. Instructor Bios:
