In today's world data is what drives improvement and innovation. Good data leads to good decisions in most cases. Electrical systems have always been very basic and users usually forget about them unless something isn't working correctly. New technology is changing this though, and it is allowing homeowners to be more interactive with there wiring systems. A few years ago we lost a freezer full of food after a power line outage that also resulted in a tripped circuit at our residence. We had no idea the circuit was off and failed to check it when power was restored, that was until the freezer started oozing!

Technology has changed, and there is now a way to monitor breakers and circuits. You can even get alarms if a breaker has tripped! Not to mention receiving real time or historical data on the circuits in your home. This may help identify any potential problems that be starting, or allow you to compare your usage on power bills. Considering Solar Power for your home or business?
- When considering solar power as an alternative there are some key things to get right to ensure a properly functioning system. We recently were asked to provide a third party inspection on a new install in Homedale, ID . The installers did a fantastic job, but the system functionality is compromised because all the variables of the system were not considered. In this instance, 600 ft of undersized underground wire from the PV system to the net meter is the issue. The SolarEdge inverter keeps shutting itself down on an over volt condition due to the extreme wire resistance. Correcting the issue is a major undertaking, and it should have been considered in the design steps.

Make sure that you have professionals who understand PV, electrical wiring, and design work on you new systems. If you are unsure of something in the proposal, make sure to ask clarifying questions. This will provide you with a reliable system and ensure that your investment payback period is accurate. As for this example, the customer is losing about 40% of their daily production and they are not going to achieve their ROI in the time frame promised.
