A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 pm CDT for portions of Nebraska, southeastern South Dakota, and northwestern Iowa. The strongest storms may produce hail to 2.5" in diameter and gusts as high as 75 mph.

New warning now includes Decatur county until 1:30 PM. Tennis ball size hail has been reported with this storm as it moves northeast at 25 mph.

Severe Thunderstorms continue to move east northeast in northwest Kansas and these storms may move into Furnas and Phillips Counties by 1-2pm.

Expecting highs generally in the 80s today with breezy winds out of the southeast with gusts around 25 to 30 mph. This evening and tonight it will be important to stay weather aware. Severe storms are expected across the area tonight with a moderate risk for severe weather across more than half of the area. The main threats are large hail to around the size of baseballs and damaging winds to around 75 mph. A few tornadoes are also possible, particularly earlier on in the evening, with the wind threat increasing as the night goes on. Storms are expected generally between 7 PM and 3 AM. Expect overnight lows to be in the 50s and 60s.

Strong to severe storms will be possible this evening and overnight tonight. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary hazards. A few tornadoes are also possible. Make sure to stay weather aware and have a method to receive warnings!

UPDATE: A few storms have popped up in Seward and Butler county. These storms will have lightning, and possibly smaller hail and gustier winds.

We're still expecting thunderstorms to develop along a front over northeast in the next couple of hours. The storms will merge into a line while moving south toward I-80 tonight. The strongest storms will be capable of wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph and/or hail approaching 1" in diameter.
