But first.. a little context and a shoutout:

Cari of Cari Me Away Travels is one of the most compassionate people I am honored to know. In crafting new copy for her website revamp I learned so much about stuff I take for granted as a neurotypical, able-bodied traveler.
Concepts like accessible travel, how to make it possible for a wheelchair user to dip their toes in the ocean, navigating when you have sensory issues or anxiety, and more were all COMPLETELY foreign to me.
I mean, have YOU ever seen a wheelchair on the beach or thought about how the heck you might get one through a sand dune? I certainly hadn't.
But wait, there's more...
Not only is Cari an ace travel advisor, she's also a certified mental health first aid instructor AND a certified autism travel professional. (Also had no idea these classifications existed.) And she's on a mission to make vacations magical no matter what your or your family member's situation.
When I created my copywriting business and landed on the tagline of "snappy copy for brands that give a s**t" this is EXACTLY the type of brand I had in mind. Impact-driven, passionate, inclusive, and just downright amazing.

A sweet thank you note arrived today from a client’s granddaughter. Her grandmother took her and a cousin to London and Paris in June and it was so fun to plan. Multi-generational trips are the best!

Getting ready to check in clients traveling to England, Scotland, and Ireland!! This multi-generational trip includes visiting family in England and then heading to the Orkney Islands and then to Dublin.

We started planning this trip almost a year ago and it was a complicated Itinerary. Two travelers flying out of Minneapolis and two out of Montreal. Lots of moving parts, but I am so excited for their adventures together.

If you are trying to figure out a family trip that has people from different cities, I got you!!

My latest review from my clients who returned from Scotland last week :-). The picture was taken by my clients at their hotel in St. Andrews, and he was even able to golf at St. Andrews Golf Club!!

"My wife and I contacted Cari to help us with our 25th anniversary trip to Scotland. She listened to our thoughts and dreams and helped create an amazing trip that led us from Edinburgh to St. Andrews, north to Inverness, then west to Glencoe, and south to Glasgow. When we had a hotel issue at one point in our trip and had to pivot, Cari jumped into action and helped find a beautiful hotel. Before we even left on our trip, Cari created an online plan that we could access from an app on our phone that contained all the airline, hotel, car rental, and activity details. Okay friends! I am working on a project and want people to tell me all their favorite places to stay, places to go, places to eat, or anything you can think of within the state of Vermont. Sky is the limit and all ideas are welcome!! 

I have a great list started, but I love feedback. This can be anytime of year and anywhere in the state. If you don’t live here but have visited, I want to hear from you, too!

I’ll be asking more specific questions as the project develops, so this is just a broad brainstorm.

It's a great time to start planning your travels in 2025. Make sure you are not part of this sad statistic. I have a number of trips in the books for 2025 and I would love to help you get things planned!!

According to Expedia's 24th annual Vacation Deprivation Report, released last week, roughly half of Americans don't plan on using all their time off this year (53 percent), despite receiving just 12 days off annually—the fewest of any country surveyed.

Expedia has been analyzing time-off trends around the world for 24 years, and while American vacation deprivation (defined as the feeling of not having enough time off) has now hit an 11-year high at 65 percent, rates are down in many other parts of the world. It's clear working adults in the U.S. (and the travel industry itself) could benefit from adopting some of the time-off strategies and attitudes in other countries.

Last week 40 people became Certified in Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults. I love teaching this class and look forward to many more. One reason I decided to become a Certified Trainer is to be able to share the concepts with my travel clients when planning meaningful, mental health respite experiences.

Jacquie needed to use the family/accessible restroom at the Shedd Aquarium yesterday. Understanding that this a family restroom, it is also an accessible bathroom. It’s nice to have a footstool for kids to wash their hands (important for sure), but since it can’t be moved, how does a wheelchair user wash their hands? There really isn’t enough space if she tried the end of the sink.

She couldn’t reach the soap at all or the water faucet easily. It truly isn’t difficult, it just takes a little extra planning.

I will say the Shedd Aquarium was a great place to visit and we would certainly recommend it!!

I have clients staying in this castle in England tonight!! They have reported back that the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are gorgeous, and the food is fantastic!! A great spot to celebrate a 50th and 25th Wedding Anniversary and the price point is very affordable. Bonus!!!

Sent clients off today to celebrate a 50th and 25th Wedding Anniversary in England, Scotland, and Ireland. The Itinerary was a lot of fun to craft and has many fun things planned and cool places to stay. Not only are they celebrating milestone Anniversaries, but they are also learning about their family heritage.

I can't wait to hear all about it when they return!!
