Circe & Hare Lodge has always drawn creative types ~ writers & artists looking for a peaceful, inspiring spot for their craft.

It has been our pleasure to host painter & her husband, a kind, down-to-earth couple whom we’ve gotten to know over the last couple of years~ and for guests like that, we’re happy to allow them to rearrange our furniture! Haha!

Donna’s work is reminiscent of the American tonalists, with their moody depictions of transitional times of day, as well as their soft palettes & gentle rendering of light & atmosphere.

We’re honored that this painting, titled ‘Barn next to the Old Blockhouse’ was painted in our cabin! (And if you’re familiar with Greensboro, you’ll know exactly where this barn is!)

This painting, and another of Donna’s works, is currently part of the Land & Light & Water & Air Exhibit at the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT.

Our little pond in summer…many guests don’t even realize we have a pond. We encourage guests to explore the property…along with the spring-fed pond, there’s access to the Lamoille River & paths through the woods.

The pond sings with spring peepers, which is a magical evening sound in spring…and the deep “gguuunk” bullfrog sounds of summer.

I have plans to continue my woods-cleanup & creation of a path all around the pond!

Changed out much of the bedding for the summer months. Put away our heavy wool blankets in exchange for lightweight linen, coverlets & blankets. Always a good night’s sleep in the comfiest beds. ☁️

We’re so lucky to have the gorgeous & quiet Caspian Lake within a few miles from the cabin! Guests can rent beautifully made wooden kayaks or canoes from our neighbor, Little Creek Canoe & Kayak! The Greensboro Garage also rents kayaks & paddleboards & is just minutes from the lake.

It’s swimming season!! Took the pups for a long hike on Elmore Mountain, then for a swim at the base of the mountain in Lake Elmore. Such a peaceful, beautiful day!

Traveling to Vermont & looking for some amazing places to hike? We’re happy to make recommendations for our guests, since Matt & I are avid hikers!

Our ‘great room’ is the coziest space in any season, and guests end up using the fireplace even in summer…there are always those cool summer nights when a small fire takes the edge off (and definitely adds to the cozy factor)!
