I'm no longer in business for myself, however, my sons are wanting to start a pressure washing gig. I bought a broken pressure washer last year and they rebuilt it. It runs 3100 psi and can soap. The rates are very rational reasonable. They'll be working mainly Thursday late afternoon and Saturday. I'll transport them to and from and will be there to oversee.

Weaving the first few runs of these vulnerable areas greatly minimizes the potential for wind damage.

I started the practice years ago only in these areas where they terminate to a point due to wind damage in these areas I'd seen on other roofs. I don't want customers losing shingles in the wind. Shortly after that, I began doing all the valleys for a consistent look.

A practice I've done for years for further protection from the wind:

1) a minimal of two nails at the edge of the shingle on the gable end.

2) a vertical shingle nailed with the tar strip upward to adhere these edge shingles vertically to one another instead of just horizontally.

What began as a simple tub and surround swap quickly escalated into replacing half the sub-floor and installing new sheet vinyl flooring. I also had a handful of misc drywall repairs for this wonderful customer. Her husband even told me I could ride his 2004 CBR 1000 when it warms up. Oh, and their dogs quickly became my friends.

Still doing replacement windows. We removed an old bay window which had a curved wall above and beneath. We simply caulked the interior side, but trimmed the outside with paintable PVC wood grain trim to guarantee no rot or air infiltration again.

It's been a crazy busy year between my medical issues, having a new baby, and work.

I've not made a post forever, yet we're here.

It's fall now, and unlike last year, I had no time to post pics of amazing food being grilled, work being done, children being crazy, and all those beautiful things.

Running a shingle up the edge like the first photo doesn't only add adhesive property at the edge of the roof, but also makes for a beautiful straight edge on your gable end. I also make a habit of double nailing that end shingle to add extra protection in areas more vulnerable to wind damage.

With the sub zero temps approaching, and being I've worked outside for 23 years in the winter, I'd like to offer some advice.

2 layers in the cold is great. However, wear one layer that fits snugly to the skin and one quite a bit more loose. The inner layer retains body heat. With the outer being loose, you create an air gap between you and outside temps. You're outer layer will become the temp of the outdoors, while your inner layer is separated by the air gap, allowing the inner layer to retain body heat because it is not in constant contact with the outer, diminishing the transfer of hot to cold by nature of conduction, working just like insulation.

For those that may work on their own home, and may end up installing these vents, it is important to know that the little ridge on the sides are actually there to prohibit water from running to the side and getting behind your shingles. Always nail to the outside edge to prevent potential leaks.

Another pleased customer. We installed the standing seam roof a few weeks ago. Yesterday we installed the collector boxes for the flat roof on top, and installed the down spouts. We also installed the 9 awnings shown here. This is a project outside of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

So, who is grilling tonight? What you got going on? We have pork chops, basted with Kerrygold butter, seasoned with Himalayan pink salt, fresh ground black pepper, and Grill Mates Roasted Garlic and Herbs. In the cast iron dish we have sliced mushrooms sauteed in Kerrygold butter, with sliced onion, sliced jalapeno, and a tiny bit of horseradish. All is accompanied with a North Coast Brewing Company Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout.

When there is ventilation in your crawlspace, it's there for a reason. If you cover these vents, it could be detrimental to your flooring system, trapping moisture and causing the premature expiration of flooring and framing members. Do not cover them in the warmer temps. If covered or closed in cooler temps, be sure rp open in warmer temps. Cool air in your crawlspace, meeting warmer temps in your farming, can cause condensation as you see on a toilet or cold drink in the summer. This can cause your framing to weaken or rot, allowing unwanted and unnecessary repairs. This applies more to newer homes due to the hardness and durability of framing components in contrast to the hardness of the wood used until the early 1900's.

Another beautiful shingle manufactured by BP. This color is Weathered Rock, and the contrast and color combination is gorgeous.
