My Disney Story

When I was 8 years old, my family finally decided we'd take our first vacation to Disney World. I quickly got my little hands on what must've been something like the 1994 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and began reading. I have always been a planner and a researcher, so learning all the various aspects of planning a Disney trip was thrilling. Obviously, our trip went off without a hitch.

Even as a kid I loved places with stories and a history. Disney World wasn't just amazing to me from a planning aspect, but I loved learning about all the tiny details that made the World go round. I delved into learning about Walt himself and his vision to create a destination where families could come together to focus on one another, leaving the stresses of reality behind for a while.

Fast forward to my days at Louisiana State University, where I was ecstatic to be accepted into the Disney College Program. I learned that my position would be as a "showkeeper" at then Disney-MGM Studios...which is a very "Disneyfied" term for a custodian. I spent a summer cleaning toilets, mopping up Mickey bars (and far worse things) and taking out the trash on Sunset Boulevard, and loved every minute of it.

{Disney is the only place I will happily clean toilets. Just ask my husband.}
