Planning Things to Do in Dauphin Island? Take a trip by boat to see the Sand Island Lighthouse or view this lighthouse from Fort Morgan on a clear day. Sand island was originally 400 acres, but the erosion of the sea has washed almost everything away but the base of the lighthouse.
