As construction for the commercial terminal at Gulf Shores International Airport begins this month, the Gulf Shores Airport Authority shared more details about the exciting expansion!

This innovative expansion will provide commercial flights for the first time to coastal Baldwin County, increasing commercial air transportation services, tourism, local business growth, and economic impact. The airport has received multiple letters of intent to serve this market and plans to provide connectivity to various destinations, which will be announced in the near future.

Today is Endangered Species Day! Did you know that the US Fish and Wildlife Service has 128 species listed as endangered or threated in Alabama? 105 are animals and 23 are plants. There is one species in particular that is close to our heart here at Gulf State Park and that is the Alabama Beach Mouse. These cute little mice can be found from the west side of Perdido Pass to the east edge of Gulf State Park. This species is considered endangered due to habitat loss as a result of development on dune environments and hurricanes. You can help this species by staying off the dunes when you visit the beach this spring and summer!
