All you can Eat Crab Legs
I get asked all the time for restaurant recommendations but many times get asked if there is an all you can eat Crab Legs. In the past the answer had to be NO but recently a new restaurant opened in Gulf Shores called Hammered Crab and their claim to fame is going to be AYCE Snow Crab Legs. I went to the grand opening on Wednesday and even though there was a large Chamber of Commerce event as well as them holding an eating contest for the Fire Department the service was great and the Crab Legs were awesome. I can't vouch for the rest of the menu at this point as two of our party didn't get the AYCE Crab Legs and they weren't impressed (one got boiled shrimp and the other gumbo) but the two of us that did get the AYCE loved them. I have noticed in the last few years many places steam their crab legs and then sprinkle the seasoning on them once they are cooked. Of course this gets it all over your hands but doesn't do much to season the meat. Hammered Crab is boiling theirs so the seasonings gets into the meat. Current price for the AYCE is $60 which includes AYCE garlic bread and salad and you get one serving of boiled potatoes and corn. Hammered Crab

The Gulf State Park trail right by our building just got voted the Trail in the US.

Alabama's Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail was named the best recreational trail in the US by USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, beating out competitors and offering visitors a unique experience through diverse ecosystems in Gulf Shores, Gulf State Park, and Orange Beach.

Finally Opened Up!!!!
We finally after 9 months have got Penthouse 4 up and running. It turned out AWESOME. We gutted it to the 2X4s after Sally and built it back from scratch and all the extras we put in turned out very nice.

Post Sally Update
We haven't posted much since Sally as we found that both of our units had some moisture damage in the walls. Unit 313 is fairly minor but they will end up refinishing the ceilings so we have to move everything out for the scraping and refinishing of the ceilings. Penthouse 1 didn't fair as well. Even though there was no visible damage they found a high moisture level in the walls with a thermal camera so we decided to replace it all. I will post pictures of it later but in some new news we have purchased Penthouse 4 at Grand Beach Resort which is the Penthouse on the east end of the 5th floor. There are only 4 units on the 5th floor so we have the end one on the east and the end one on the west but they are only about 60' apart so it will be a great place for two families traveling together that want to stay close but have their own space. Penthouse 4 was hammered pretty good by Sally as the roof above it was compromised so it is currently gutted to the studs. The reason we decided to buy it in that condition is that we can now rebuild it back exactly the way we want to. It will end up being our nicest unit as everything will be brand new from the studs out. We plan to post some updates as the construction goes along but it will not go as fast as we would like as we be built back with the rest of the units in the building that sustained damage. We are hoping to get Unit 313 and Penthouse 1 back up by April/May but Penthouse 4 with a new kitchen will probably not be finished till June as many things like cabinets and granite are in short supply down here due to Sally.
