Up, up, and away to Erice, the city of many churches. A Medieval town high above Trapani. History says that this little town was constantly under seige which I find amazing because it is so high above sea level and difficult to get to even today. We rode a cable car to the base of the town of Erice

An afternoon walking through Trapani, Sicily. We walked from the top of the hill where the gondala to Enrice was down to the end of the peninsula and the beach. 7 miles round trip. Unfortunately it was during their afternoon Riposo (Siesta) so the streets were very quiet, and most shops and restaurants were closed. On our way back to our car, town started to reopen. 6ish PM. Whew.

So wrapping up at our first Villa outside of Acireale, Sicily.. Stazzo to be exact and traveling 4 hours NW to Buseto Palizzolo for our 2nd week. Arrivederci East Coast Sicily.

We visited 3 wineries while in Sicily. Biondi was our favorite. Not only for the wine, but the hospitality and of course the 3 Bull Mastiffs. Arthur, Spotty, and Lupa.
That evening we had a cooking class in our Villa with our hosts Evita, Victoria, and their daughter Matilde.

Savoca. The little village where they filmed part of the Godfather, where Michael escapes to Italy and finds a wife. Also, Taormina. Both were great tours led by Katia and Claudia of Discover Messina Sicily.
