The Artist’s River House in Helper was the very first Airbnb in Carbon County, Utah. Today there are hundreds and there are some really great ones right here in Helper.

However, after eight fantastic years of serving hundreds of tourists and friends from all parts of the world we have decided to close its doors so that we can provide room for our growing family as they come to visit.

We’d especially like to thank our 5 Star Host Ashley Baird for the service she’s provided over the years in making the stay of our guests so enjoyable.

There have been huge changes in Helper over the last eight years and more are coming. If you haven’t had a chance to visit you should come to see for yourself. It’s Happening in Helper!

Happy Holidays from The Artist’s River House in Helper, Utah.

It was like living in our own personal art gallery, as well as clean, well appointed but cozy, generously stocked and steps away from a river walk and charming main street. Highly recommend the River House and hosts.

Ridiculously well stocked, charming and hospitable in a way that reminds me of Airbnb’s early days (example: fridge was stocked with all sorts of beverages, with payment on the honor system), gorgeous art by local painters, next to the river and a walking path, quiet, one block from the main drag. I only stayed two nights, but wish I’d stayed two weeks.

What a gem! The Artist's Riverhouse is a real find. I've never stayed in a place so charmingly appointed. I loved how the playful retro feel was married with intelligent design and furnishing choices. Smart and functional, like the motion controlled nightlights on the baseboard and bath and the dual temperature settings. Yet chock full of good artwork - over two dozen pieces, large to tiny, from an array of artists- that gave the rooms layers of interest and warmth. The effect was still clean and sleek. The location was great, just a block from destinations on Main street, and easy to access from the highway. It is also not far from the pleasant riverwalk. Very comfortable king bed. The refrigerator was generously stocked, and the colorful porch chairs front and back gave you lots of options to sit back and relax on.

From Sofi:

What a lovely stay we had! The interior is interesting and respecting the mining and railroad history of the region. The place is also unusually well stocked starting from burn relief medicine and the first aid kit. The fridge is filled with a good selection of water, snacks, soda, wine and bear and whisky-lovers's eyes will shine bright when they see a bottle of excellent bourbon. The AC is really good, wifi worked fine and the place has also an unusually brilliant DVD-collection interesting for different kind of viewers. Helper is a lovely city with interesting history, well-restored historical gas stations and vehicles and loads of well-restored old advertisements and signs. It's like an outdoor museum, but a real town. I also recommend Helper's museum, just a very short walk from this lovely house. A very good guide and an excellent collection they have there!. It's rare to see such an interesting museum in a small town. I do hope the community continues the good work they are doing in Helper! We stayed there on our way to Salt Lake City, but the location is good for exploring the nature (Nine Mile Canyon not far) or just relaxing for a week or two. From the guest book I could see people have also spent their Christmas holidays at the house and I can imagine they've had very good time over there. I can imagine this is a nice place for remote working as well.

This Airbnb deserves its own category...something like "Special Art Gallery Airbnb"! It was one of the most beautiful places we have been in. The natural building materials, high ceilings, stunning artwork, and many special amenities together created an amazing ambiance. Everything is done WELL. Every inch of the living space felt welcoming, peaceful, and supremely comfortable. You could feel the care and pride these hosts have put into this special and well-thought-out space. Everything in the well-stocked kitchen is bright and beautiful. The bed is comfortable, the shower is amazing, and the TV offered everything you wanted to tune into. We had an unexpected (very happy) online family event happen while we were there, and the strong wifi supported two computers working perfectly for our Zoom event. (The only challenge was picking which of the gorgeous pieces of art you wanted as your background during the Zoom!) The hosts generously accept dogs, and the property is handily right next to the riverside walking trail. Although conveniently right in town, the location is very quiet! This is truly a top-notch Airbnb experience, and we are certain to return.

Everything about this house was perfect for us. Beautifully curated local art, comfortable furnishings, clever and satisfying architectural design, great climate control, and the thoughtful stock of snacks and beverages. We were able to cook meals with the hot plate and toaster oven and enjoyed the nostalgia of picking movies from a selection of DVDs rather than streaming. Our two dogs seemed to enjoy the place as well, including getting out and walking along the river and down Main Street.

We are legit thinking of moving to Helper after staying in this beautiful home! It’s even more lovely in person, and in a very cool small town. We were looking for a place to relax on our Utah road trip, jump online for a couple of work calls, and easily get to Bryce Canyon and Arches NP - this spot met all of our needs. The views just outside your door are incredible, the food recs are top notch (we went to Balanced Rock for breakfast and dinner!) and most important for us, we were able to have two people simultaneously on Zoom calls on one of the days without a hitch. My only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer, and buy more art! Make sure you drive back on Spring Canyon Rd if you do visit - such a cool spot right in town.

“Thank you so much!!!! Loved the house so much… we loved the area and hope to be back again. I can tell how much effort you all put into the place and deeply appreciated it.”

Truly such a lovely spot to stay! Highly recommend to anyone. The home is full of thoughtful touches and anything you may need. Stayed here on a whim as we needed a spot between Oregon & Colorado and were so pleasantly surprised by how fun Helper is! Such a pleasant town, especially if you love art. We didn't meet Ashley but chatted with Roy, who was very welcoming and loved chatting about Helper. Highly recommend!

The coziest home in the cutest town! Absolutely loved our stay here. We spent Christmas weekend in Helper & couldn’t have picked a better spot. Ashley is responsive, the place was clean & full of any supplies we may have forgotten to pack, & there were even dog bowls for our furry friend to use! Definitely recommend staying here & driving around the area. It’s gorgeous & so quiet!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Artist’s River House. Remember, there are no Black Fridays in Helper, Utah ... just blue skies, clean air and friendly people. Did you know that Helper has been named Utah’s Christmas Town? So come on up for all the festivities including the Electric Light Christmas Parade. And, if you need some coal for those that have been naughty Carbon County still has plenty available.

This place was very nice and I loved the decoration and design. It also had everything you would need, and then some. Seriously, you don't need to bring anything with you. The host, Ashley, was extremely nice and very helpful. When our car broke down, Ashley was there to pick us up and went above and beyond to help in any way possible. We can't thank you enough!!!

This place truly is a hidden gem! One of the best AirBnB experiences we’ve had.
Home was very clean and cozy with unique local artistic touches. Completely well-stocked, truly a home away from home—we didn’t want to go! We enjoyed sitting on the porch taking in the fresh air and sunshine. Endless natural areas around to explore.
The town of Helper is one of a kind and a must see! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.
Can’t wait to stay again!!

This is a great place to stay! The hosts put in a lot of effort to make sure your stay is smooth and perfect. The fridge is stocked with free water. In addition, the home has everything you might forget - shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, etc. If you forgot something - most likely they have it to spare. In addition, the place is beautiful and full of charm with the art and decor. I highly recommend!

While this was just a stop on a longer road trip, it ended up being our favorite! The house felt cozy and like home. The owners left a ton of recommendations which was extremely helpful. Food was great and if you’re there during the summer on a Saturday you’ll be lucky enough to go to the Saturday Night Vibes outdoor live music/festival. The town and community was amazing. We loved it here so much and will be
