About the breed:
The Dogo Argentino (also known as the Argentine Mastiff) is a large, white, muscular dog that was developed in Argentina primarily for the purpose of big-game hunting, including wild boar and puma; the breeder, Antonio Nores Martinez, also wanted a dog that would exhibit steadfast bravery and willingly protect its human companion to the death. It was first bred in 1928, from the Cordoba Fighting Dog along with a wide array of other breeds including, but not limited to, the Great Dane.

-Dogos thrive in a home were they are treated as part of the family but they must also know their place in the pack.

-A bored lonely Dogo can and will be distructive make sure you have the time to give your new family member the attention and training they need.

-Dogos do not make good first dogs, large breed experience is needed to ensure they will be handled properly.

-Dogos are very smart and are easy to train although they can be stubborn and need training sessions to be fun and positive.

-Dogos do not require frequent bathing, infact it can dry out the coat and lead to allergies, they do not have a "doggy" odor so a rinse off and towel dry is all they ever need. They do need their nails trimmed often.

Meet Thor 🐾 a 5 year old unaltered Dogo Argentino looking for a new home. Thor, or as I like to call him Theodore unfortunately lost his owner. His relatives attempted to keep him but it just wasn’t working out due to their lifestyle, nothing to do with Thor.

Anyone seriously interested in him should message Josh Billings or this page. Please make sure to include why you are interested in Thor and why you feel you would be a good fit for him. The more details the better.

Thor has been amazing so far! Here’s what I can tell you -

Good with dogs of all sizes, but can sometimes butt heads with other un neutered males only if they are aggressive towards him. He would do well living with another submissive male or basically any female dog, he really enjoys their company.

He loves toys, balls, and stuffies! And is a professional zoomier. If you want a dog who will keep you laughing, Thor’s your guy!

He is potty trained and kennel trained.

Knows a lot of basic commands/obedience

He is very attentive and friendly with anyone he meets. He knows no strangers.

He is good on leash - as long as he is on a prong collar! Without it he is extremely powerful and almost impossible to control.

I would recommend older kids for this boy, just because of his size and strength. He is a over sized lap dog and has no idea of his own strength and will knock you over.

He is E-collar trained.

Over all he is a very well mannered, sweet boy. He does not require much exercise and is more than content lounging around all day. He has done well in my fenced in yard, but i’m sure with time he would be excellent off leash for his new family.

He has lived with cats previously, but of course with his large size I would expect slow introductions would be needed to make sure they can co-exist

If you are not familiar with dogo argentino’s I suggest you do your research before even considering one.

Again, Please message Josh Billing/This page if you are interested and please include as much detail as possible about your life so that we can find the best home for this guy!
