For 40 years, Turneffe Flats has been recognized as one of the world's finest saltwater destinations where it's very possible to catch a Grand Slam of Tarpon, Permit & Bonefish all in the same day! Turneffe's crystal clear, firm-bottom, wadeable flats offer daily opportunities for tailing bonefish and permit. Additionally, large migratory tarpon inhabit Turneffe's creeks, channels and flats between April and October, with resident tarpon available throughout the year. Snook, trigger fish, barracuda, snapper, jacks, and several other species, round out an exceptionally diverse fishery.

Spring Fever or Cobia Fever, the fever is the FEVER! “Cobia Fever” is when your passion becomes obsession! The migration of the “Brown Clowns” is usually in full force here on the Nature Coast during the month of May! Though with the water temperatures already getting warmer, they have started to arrive and there has been a few caught and brought back to the docks here in the ‘Sassa! We still have a few openings left to target “Mr. Brown Suit”, click the link below to reserve your date now! Hopefully the wind will finally lay down and we’ll be able to target “Cobia” as the head north for the summer. Always watch for Rays or Turtles as the “Lemonfish” tend to follow closely looking for a free meal. The key to catching the “Prodigal Son” is preparation, you have to be ready, and it can go from total boredom to absolute chaos in a blink of an eye! We always cover the entire water column with bait, usually a Catfish on the bottom directly under the boat, two balloon lines with frisky live bait behind the boat and one pitch bait in the water next to the boat ready to toss when the not so smart “Black Kingfish” swim directly at the boat! It also doesn’t hurt to have an artificial eel bait ready to cast as you never know what’s on their diet each day! Having more than one “Crabeater” hooked at the same time happens often! We'll start seeing the beasts over wrecks or other structure (rocks), as the water temperatures continue to rise and there's nothing more exciting than watching them slurp your bait as they're swimming through the chum slick, so close to the boat you can almost touch them!! Always be extremely careful when you take them out of the water, they go berserk and get them in the fish box fast as not only can they hurt you but they can destroy equipment and your boat fast! Having all season to grow these are some of the biggest bay scallops, I've ever seen and the meat is almost as big as you would expect in Sea Scallops! The Chocolate Caloosahatchee
The Chocolate Caloosahatchee River has become a nightmare for locals and tourists alike. It's a shame and very disheartening that the State of Florida has allowed this to happen. Extensive historical modifications to the Caloosahatchee River and its watershed have altered the hydrology of the region. As a result, heavy rainfall can bring large influxes of fresh water into the Caloosahatchee Estuary from storm water runoff within the basin, but mostly because of the Lake Okeechobee releases or both. The increased freshwater flows affect salinity levels and water quality in the estuary, potentially causing environmental harm.
