Aloha!

We are coming up on our busiest season Summer!! And we could use your help!!

WHAT?
Aloha Sitters has been matching Nanny's with families (both on vacation & locals) since 2007!!

WHERE?
Most families are staying in & around Waikiki (Waikiki, Kahala, Hawaii Kai, Honolulu), but we do also receive the occasional request for Kailua & the North Shore. Parent's do not pay for our parking costs or travel time. So it is best if you live in or around these areas & have a transportation plan that doesn't require you pay for parking (scooter, bus, bike, walk, hop, skip, jump, etc).

Our company does have excursion insurance, so with the parents permission you can take the children to the pool, beach, park, zoo, aquarium, etc. The only exception is that our insurance does not cover you driving kids. So you would need to walk, take public transportation or meet there.

WHEN?
Families will tell us exactly the days and times they are looking for Nanny support. YOU get choose which jobs you want to work. There is never an obligation to work. We receive 1 time jobs, a few times, part-time & full time. We've seen early hours (for golfing, scuba diving, marathons, working), midday & date nights. We receive both requests for midweek & weekend.

WHO?
The ages of the children range from newborn to typically as old as 13 years. We on occasion receive request for special needs care (so if you are qualified you can reply to those job opportunities as well). It is both local families & vacationing families that request our services.

PAY & COST?
Jobs pay CASH at the end of each day $17-25 per hour depending on the number of children you care for. So for 1 child it's $17/hr, for 4 children it's $25/hr. Additionally family's on vacation tend to tip.

To keep our company in business sending you work opportunities, we do require you pay just $1 per hr that you work back to the company (whether you are caring for 1 child or 4 children, it's still just $1 per hr. For Holidays when you are paid time & a half it would be $1.50 per hr paid back to the company).

And the only other cost associated with joining our referral service is the $15 uniform shirt deposit. If you ever decide to no longer work with us (which we hope never happens) then you can return your shirt to receive the $15 back.

QUALIFICATIONS?
1. Be at least 21 years old
2. Child/Infant CPR/first aid certified or willing to become
3. Have a minimum of 5 years experience caring for children (not including for friends & family)
4. Either have a degree or be working towards a degree that is care related (Education, Childhood Development, Nursing, Child Psychology, Social Work, etc). Alternatively, if you have lifeguard experience or children's swim instructions experience that would work in place of a degree.
5. Have a long-term career goal of caring for others
6. Be able to provide 3 different work related references
7. Be able to return a clean background check

We get extra excited if you also have experience caring for special needs & any type of volunteer experience.

Just in case the power goes out, here are some great ideas for keeping the kids happy. (Might want to print the list out before the storm starts. ;-) http://rochester.kidsoutandabout.com/content/100-things-do-kids-during-power-outage

Here are 100 things my kids came up with to help pass the time when the power goes out. "Lock your sister in a closet" and "decorate your brother with pretty colored sharpies while he's sleeping," were edited out for obvious reasons.

Such a great resource, especially for parents of teen girls!

Moms of daughters: OMG I died laughing at this! What a hilarious take on such a taboo subject! I remember being like the girl and waiting and wishing for it to happen. Oh, how naive. The very last line was EPIC! I think I'm going to order a HelloFlo Period Starter Kit just because this is brilliant!

Our Story

Kathryn founded Keikisitters.com in June 2007. She has 9 years experience taking care of children, pets, elders, & homes. Determined to help Hawaii's residents, Kathryn came up with the idea of Keikisitters.com and spent the last several years visiting the universities and community colleges on Oahu on a mission to recruit students with experience in babysitting, pet sitting, house sitting, elder companion and tutoring.

She has since changed the name to Aloha Sitters in partnership with branches from the mainland. All sitters have have returned a clean background check, are at least 22 years old, are CPR and First Aid Certified, have a minimum of 5 years childcare experience, and have gone through a rigorous screening process to be a part of our program.

Additionally, most sitters have obtained or are working on obtaining a degree towards Early Childhood Development, Education, Child Psychology, Nursing, or the like. Our desire is to make this process safe, quick, and easy.
