Out of the water for a couple of days due to a slight Trachea Squeeze.
I let my ego take over and guide my actions and we all know that usually works out. The male ego will ^%$# you up more time than not.
So I get to sit on the sidelines while there are epic diving conditions. Ugh! Injuries are not enjoyable at all.
Back in the water soon enough, the Kas countown continues.
I LOVE AMED! Opted to extend my stay until the end of the month of August then down to @camotesfreediving for another couple of weeks.
The training continues!
Easy day at Point Panic diving on the line with some new freedivers. Light winds, no current, perfect day to do some FRC dives.
Super fun to encourage other freedivers and watch them progress. Always something to work on and improve.
Met Chris L. who is the only @apnea_total instructor I've met outside of Asia. He recognized my buoy from @fish.on.stilts and discovered we have a common friend in Jan Jalan in Indonesia. Small world.
Thanks to Ellie, Gennady and Kay for fun time.
WARNING: BRAG POST. Static apnea 4:07 which is the first time for me over 4 min.
After diving with a bunch of folks who all seem to have 3min+ dive times and 40m+ depths, I finally feel like I'm moving in that direction, deeper dives and longer breath holds.
Having worked with Lucas over at Apnea Koh Phangan for only a few days, he was able to coach me through some solid exhale breath dives on the line (in rough waters) and then got me to 4 min+ on static apnea in the pool.
Hmmm.... there is something to all of this breath work and relaxation thing.
Thanks again to Lucas at Apnea Koh Phangan and the Apnea Total dive system for setting me on the path to more relaxed diving.
I ow have to update my goals for 2022.
We dropped into Makua as there was a big paddle out at Makaha. Not much going on with no Naia and only a few Honu.
Always good to get in the water though. After the Maldives and Mexico these past few months, it's nice to be in home waters.
Swimming Cenotes in Tulum, MX.
Did not get a chance to 'dive' the cenotes except from 12' up. ALL of the commercial cenotes require that you wear a life jacket, so it was only very occasionally that you could swim without (I was scolded a time or two for not wearing).
All good fun and the cenotes and the fresh water was amazing!
Diving Sharks Cove with Lena, Grant and Naomi for the 1st time this year.
Still got a few videos from diving this past Spring. Check out the long version on YouTube.
I'm out traveling around a bit and hoping to get some epic footage.
Still working through video footage from this winter's dives.
Take a breather from the day and live underwater for a moment. The ocean is an incredible resource will all need to watch over. Reduce single plastic usage, reduce commercial fish consumption (and all meats for that matter) and reduce your carbon footprint. Start with those three and we can work up from there
Honu eating Jellyfish. Cycle of life in the ocean. Ot can be mesmerizing and beautiful all atvthe same time.
