The great thing about when your husband/contractor sees something like this, he doesn’t panic (like I do!!!) he just says “I’ll run to Lowe’s and grab a couple of things” 😂🤞

Yesterday Rich and Oscar rented a lift so that a couple of trees could be removed from the side of the house. There was one that was growing sideways and the trunk had started to split, so now that area has been cleared out. All the overgrown shrubs inside the pool screen have been dug up so that we can smooth it out to make more of a patio for some lounge chairs 👍

Week 3: Critters, Demo and Electrical - When the real estate listing highlights “old Florida charm and landscaping “ I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise when there are lots of critters that come along with all that greenery!! There have been palmetto bugs (a kind name for a truly yucky cockroach!), lots of little geckos, and frogs! We spent quite a bit of time trying to keep them from getting in, but the battle continues! The exterminator has treated the house and told us that as we continue to improve the landscaping and get rid of the rotting deck, things will improve. Fingers crossed 🤞
Oscar was back this week and continued to clear a lot of the brush and Rich began demolition on the rotting deck. While he was out there on Tuesday we had a surprise visit from a familiar New Hampshir(ite?), Linda Lee’s brother Larry. He heard we had moved down and biked on over to say hi. It was nice to see a familiar face…He thinks once shrubbery is cleared out we should plant a mango tree 😂
As the week went on I finished painting the small bathroom off of the bedroom and Rich got the flooring and wall trim done. It’s just about ready for the new vanity and toilet. I’m still working on the cabinets (a little bit at a time) … I’m hoping to have the first section done this week.
Today we decided to take a bit of a break and bike downtown to the Dunedin Arts Festival. The city closed down several blocks and there were lots of great items to see! It was a really cool event and very well attended… it reminded me alot of the Sunapee craftsman fair. It’s so awesome to be able to bike around and enjoy all that is in the area, we are so grateful to have this time here!!! ❤️

Week 2: Painting, New Appliances, and Yard Work - This week started off with lots more painting! I continued working on the walls and trim in the spare bedroom while Rich decided to demo the small bathroom off of our bedroom. We discovered that there was some crazy wallpaper underneath the mirrors, might be from 1986 😉, it’s going to take quite a bit of painting to cover that up!
On Tuesday, a local landscaper started helping on the outside of the house. We met him, Oscar, through our realtor. He’s a really good natured guy who wants to have his own organic farm in the next few years. He’s always moving and truly whistles while he works! He got most of the front of the house cleared and you can actually see out the kitchen window. It looks like our lot size doubled! 😂
The new microwave and dishwasher were delivered on Thursday, and wouldn’t you know it, the fridge decided to kick the bucket (or s**t the bed - whichever you prefer lol) that night. So off to Lowe’s we went to order a new fridge. It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and at that point all the kitchen appliances have been replaced. Fingers crossed that the washer and dryer will hang in there for the foreseeable future.
I started to tackle some of the kitchen and tried my hand at sanding a small section of the counter top. We are trying to rehab all the counters and cabinets to save some expense, but it is definitely going to be a slow going process! All in all it has been a good week. Can’t wait to see where we will be at next Saturday 👍

So excited for today’s deliveries!! We now have a new stove, microwave and dishwasher! Goodbye roaches 🪳

All the interior colors for the house. The icy blue is for the bedroom and the bathrooms. The wisteria snow for the living room, den and hallway. The ultra white is for the cabinets, trim and doors.

Week 1 - Logistics, Roaches and Malfunctioning Appliances….
We had a slow start at the beginning of the week, but we picked up steam as the days rolled on. Kelsie and Isaiah were down for a few days and helped getting things started with paint and flooring. They were a great help! The flooring is down in both bedrooms, and the bigger bedroom is just about done and ready for us to move in! I’m so glad! The previous owners were heavy smokers…. We’ve been sleeping in the living room and the smell of stale smoke is like an old school bingo hall 😉 (can’t wait til all the walls have been repainted).
On Wednesday we discovered that some of the appliances were not functioning as well as expected, and we had a small colony of roaches living in the dish washer … ugh… welcome to Florida lol!!! So new appliances have been ordered and the exterminator will be here on Monday. All in all it was a very productive week. We are both really happy with how the bedroom turned out

So here it is…our new property. Rich and I are so excited to get started on this new project! We found a place that came with 3 buildable lots, and we are hoping to turn the first lot to the right side of the house into a rentable guest house. We will also be remodeling the house as well. We plan for a busy winter, and we can’t wait to see what this will all turn into 🏡
