First built in 1763 and expanded over the years, Appomattox Manor was the headquarters of General Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War and hosted President Abraham Lincoln. Originally patented to Francis Eppes in 1635, this historic gem is now an open house museum managed by the City Point Unit of the Petersburg National Battlefield.
