Horseshoe Lake in Crittenden County has historically been an excellent bass fishery. In the past few years, it has been stocked with Florida Strain Largemouth Bass fingerlings. The purpose of stocking Florida Strain Bass is to improve genetics within the population, promote growth potential of adult Largemouth Bass, and increase the number of trophy bass in a body of water. Catch rates are often low on Horseshoe, but quality can be high. While sampling this spring to collect genetic information on the current stock, we found some very large, very pretty fish!

If you are looking for a place to fish docks, cypress, and lily pads, give Horseshoe Lake a try!
