The use of programming languages such as R and Python, combined with SQL to manage databases, allow the analysis of thousands, even millions, of datapoints and is transforming the way we process information and control and improve our processes.

As always, a good understanding of the underlying processes, variables and issues is paramount. The independence of variables, or non-multicollinearity as it is known in statistics, is important while doing these studies. We have used machine learning to predict electricity demand in a very accurate manner and we can use these numeric tools to improve fracking and oil production, product quality in refinery products and yields in petrochemical processes.

Boil Off Gas in LNG Supply Chain

One of the problems in LNG transportation and storage is the generation of BOG. These vapours are created due to the heat added into the LNG during storage, transportation and loading/ unloading operations. In the LNG supply chain most BOG is generated by the LNG ships themselves. The quantity and quality of unloaded LNG are the key factors for the economic assessment of the LNG supply chain.
