Rawan Falls Ella:
Height: Approximately 25 meters (82 feet)
Distinct Levels: Ravana Falls has three distinct levels, each contributing to its breathtaking beauty.
Seasonal Variation: During the local wet season, the waterfall resembles an areca flower with withering petals. However, in the dry season, the flow of water dramatically reduces.
Legends and Lore: The falls are named after the legendary king Ravana, connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to legend, Ravana kidnapped Princess Sita and hid her in the caves behind this waterfall, now known as the Ravana Ella Cave. It is believed that Rama’s queen bathed in a pool formed by the water falling from this majestic cascade. Ravana himself is said to have played the Ravanahatha here1.
