Ok, I have returned from the 2024 ASTA river cruise expo where I visited 12 different river ships. Let me share some observations.
1. River cruises allow you to move to several related destinations, similar to touring, without packing and unpacking.
2. Worried about being seasick? No waves!
3. Lots of destination lectures to help you to understand the culture.
4. They can be as active as you want or not. All carried bikes and several have an active overlay. Plus different family members can do their own levels.
5. It is easy to customize the trip by adding to the beginning and end.
6. Very value friendly. Many excursions are included.
7. I can help you find interesting themes and overlays. Wine, gourmet, war…

Next month, I am taking my 50th cruise. It will be a river cruise on the Danube again (because there is always more to see). I will be traveling with Diana Gabaldon, author of Outlander. To be honest, I would rather it be Jamie Frasier, but maybe next time!
