Crocodile Encounter has the largest group of crocodiles on display in the state of Texas. We are the premier crocodilian facility in the state and widely regarded in the zoological world as a standard bearer in the care of captive crocodilians. The animal ambassadors that live at our location are some of the most storied, legendary, and unfortunately endangered animals on the planet. It is our mission to further educate the public on these vital keystone species and the impact they have on the human world. In addition to crocodiles many other animal species call Crocodile Encounter home. Our facility is home to numerous species of snakes, lizards, and turtles and a representative faction of mammals.

Mark your calendars! Our Zoo Camp registrations will officially open on Monday, February 10th for an unforgettable summer adventure. Don't miss out on these three fantastic themed weeks:

Week 1 (2nd - 6th): Reptile Mania
Scale up your summer with our reptile-tastic camp! Become a "cold-blooded companion" to alligators, crocodiles, snakes, turtles, and lizards. Work alongside our expert keepers and dive into the fascinating world of reptiles!

Week 2 (9th - 13th): Gator Galore
Get snappy with our gator-tastic camp! Explore the world of alligators and crocodiles, becoming a scale-side scientist and uncovering the secrets of these prehistoric pals.

Week 3 (23rd - 27th): Animal Enrichment Explorers
Unleash your creativity as an animal behavior detective and enrichment expert! Design puzzles, games, and toys to keep our wild residents happy and entertained.

For the first time ever the national Crocfest is leaving Florida and coming to Texas. Make plans to join us in the summer of 2025 to raise money for one of the world's great and mysterious species the false gharial.

What is Crocodile Encounter? Crocodile Encounter is a fully licensed and insured USDA zoological facility whose primary focus is science and wildlife education. Started by a science teacher and his students Crocodile Encounter has grown into a world class animal facility that has a truly unique origin. Originally designed as a mobile science lesson Crocodile Encounter evolved through the years to become an immersive wildlife experience that features not only the nation’s largest group of crocodiles but also many other species from beautiful Bongo antelope to giant tortoises. A visit to Houston's country zoo enables each visitor to experience wildlife in a safe, exciting, and educational fashion. You will see and learn about crocodiles and alligators while being led by our knowledgeable and lively tour guides. We are the premier crocodilian facility in the state of Texas and widely regarded in the zoological world as a standard bearer in the care of captive crocodilians. The animal ambassadors that live at our location are some of the most storied, legendary, and unfortunately endangered animals on the planet. Crocodile Encounter is home to the rare and diminutive Chinese alligator as well as the titanic and critically endangered Orinoco crocodile. Our mission is to further and continuously provide a venue to educate the public on these vital keystone species and the impact they have on the human world. Our goal is to continue strengthening our mission, to lead and inspire every generation by connecting people and wildlife. Developing a passion for wildlife and our natural world doesn’t just benefit the animals but also your family and every family you encounter.
