One 4 fl. oz. (118 ml) container of mace or pepper spray is permitted in checked baggage provided it is equipped with a safety mechanism to prevent accidental discharge. Self-defense sprays containing more than 2 percent by mass of tear gas (CS or CN) are prohibited in checked baggage.

Insurance is a must. I will start recommending and push for y'all to get Insurance.
From a Cruise Partner of mine:

I have a cruiser that they were supposed sail in 2 days. Here husband was on a liver transplant list...well praise the Lord he got the call today and has a new liver but they didn't have Insurance so they lost all their money. I have tried everything I can do. I even asked for a sail date change. Unfortunately they won't do it.
So, when I ask you about Insurance please please say yes.
