I’ve traveled to Cape Coast. I like the perspective-we are descendants of survivors…

Ancestors greatest gift. Visiting the dungeons in Cape Coast one can feel the suffering and the pain of our andestors and the atrocities that took place there - you realize at that moment that one is not a just a descendant of slaves, but we're descendant of survivors.

This drawing is by Anja Rozen, a 13 year old primary school student in Slovenia. She was chosen from 600,000 children around the world to create a piece of art to show what peace looks like. She is the winner of the international Plakat Miru competition.

“Peace is very important,” said Anja. “There is inner peace, which is finding happiness and contentment no matter how stressful your life is. Peace is also freedom from violence. When there is peace, nations and the whole planet can be stable and promote cultural growth. I don’t understand wars, how people can let them happen or what leads people that far.”

“My drawing represents the land that binds us and unites us.” Humans are woven together. If someone gives up, others fall. We are all connected to our planet and to each other, but unfortunately we are little aware of it. We are woven together. Other people weave alongside me my own story; and I weave theirs," said the young designer
