I hope you are listening. You in a funk, you feeling down, you feeling overwhelmed by the pretty, skinny people on Facebook. Shut it off, shut off your brain and listen to what I'm going to tell you about your magical self.

Maybe you are overweight or your clothes don't fit. Maybe the idea of a "life change" overwhelms you. Maybe you don't want to give up your favorite foods and drinks. Maybe you have no idea how to stop eating or maybe and honestly, don't want to give up anything. Guess what? ITS OK!! You are ok. Just the way you are. Yes, I said it.

Maybe you don't FEEL good and maybe your doctor says its a health issue. Maybe you are taking more medications then you would like. Well my friend, I have some news for you. Its not what the big gyms and fancy fitness programs will say. You don't need to compete with or compare to anyone with 2% body fat telling you to flip tires or eat only fish for 2 weeks straight (unless that's your thing- then you go!!) You don't have to line anyone's pockets or make major changes. You don't have to give up anything or any part of you- THIS IS TRUE! To feel better and be healthier, you need to start with ONE SIMPLE THING. And its free. Move.

Go for a walk, once a day for 20 minutes. Take time to listen to your music, say Hi to people as they pass by, notice the green all around (its fleeting in New England). Fill your cup, add to your life. No need to subtract. Nothing more, nothing less. Walk. Do it for a week or two or three.

I bet, no I KNOW, you can do that. Do it before you have time to talk yourself out of it. I know the excuses (its' buggy - wear bug spray. its hot - bring water. you won't die, I promise. I don't have time - for f***s sake, you spent more time reading this post, yes you do girl,yes you do).

Movement moves mountains.

When I’m having a tough time, one thing that always helps me is to think about what nice things I can do for others. Getting out of victim mode and into service mode puts life in perspective. Victim hood is a very self absorbed place to be, combat that by investing in kindness. Do something nice for someone, stop eating refined carbs and then go exercise! I guarantee you’ll feel better! ❤️🎈

Warning - I LOVE this topic!!
Does eating wheat and wheat products (Cereal, crackers,bread, pasta) enhance the symptoms of anxiety, depression and other mood disorders? Can exercise really help to reduce stress? You can find data to defend your view of any standpoint out there, so its hard to say if there is real scientific evidence supporting this to be true. Google "Gluten and depression" or "gluten and your brain" and thousands of articles from various sites pop up. Some are questionable and some are from the Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clincial Neuroscience (Ill take that one as a legitimate resource).

I can only truly speak from experience. I have a family history of anxiety and depression. I had a fair amount of anxiety growing up and suffered from insomnia. I also had a pretty good childhood and stable family life so my external stressors were very mild. Eating a diet full of bread and pasta and dealing with mild anxiety didn't pose too much of an issue. However adult life hits you with some crap. I've been through it. I've been on meds and then meds to deal with the side effects of the original meds. I've been to therapy and I've tried to mediate. It wasn't until I started to EXERCISE and regulate my DIET- limiting my wheat intake and increasing my vitamin, mineral and healthy fat intake- that I really noticed a difference in the way I was able to CONTROL my anxiety and sleep issues. The anxious tendencies do not go away, nope they are always there, but I can CONTROL how I deal with them. If I go on a binge, which absolutely happens, of eating more bread and pasta than usual, I can FEEL my emotions change. I am more agitated, grumpy and have a less optimistic life outlook. It doesn't feel good to be out of control in that way. If I haven't exercised in a while, I FEEL the stress build up in my chest and am more likely to snap at a well meaning family member.

Some people may turn their nose up at this opinion and say "gluten isn't the enemy, its more complicated than that". That's fine, but have you tried it? Have you given it an honest go to see if it helps? Because I bet, even if you are not less anxious, you will feel better physically and in feeling better you will be able to better manage your emotions.

*** I am writing this today because I am currently on a pasta making and eating binge. I had cereal for lunch - I NEVER eat cereal. And I am super grumpy, tired, and my stress level is up there ;) ****

Ok so I don’t know about his research or the product he is trying to sell but what he says about Keto diets and consuming lots of low quality protein is spot on!!! Please stop eating oz and oz of supermarket meat 5 times a day!!! It’s not good for your long term health! It’s not good for cell function!

Mediterranean diet is a more balanced way to eat- getting in all your nutrients macro AND micro.
I like to mix a modified Keto (higher healthy fats like avocado and olives and lower carbs) with a modified Mediterranean diet. Fishes, veggies, some fruit.

Plus 80/20 rule for a happy life 😉

It’s all about and long term sustainability.

💪🏽If you are an avid bootcamper, crossfit ju**ie, or just love the run/row this is a great supplement workout to add into your current routine. It will help stretch and strengthen those muscles you beat up everyday! We all need to switch things up to keep us at peak level.
💪🏽If you are just starting out or weaning yourself back from hiatus, this low impact (but high intensity) workout requires no weights or jumping! It is easy on the joints but offers a great calorie burn and an opportunity to sculpt those muscles.

Space is very limited! To register go to PayPal [email protected], pay the class fee and make a note as to which session you are registering for.
Once sessions are full, I will create a group with more detailed information about what to wear and bring, etc.

Happy December friends!! I’ve been thinking about starting up a once a week PiYo class in January. So many of us are hard core working out, a good stretch and a change in movements might be a beneficial addition to our workout/weight loss regime. PiYo is also a nice opportunity for people to ease back into a workout routine after a hiatus or for those just starting out. Who would be interested in a 12 week session (once a week class)?

This just happened by accident today and it made my day! I asked for something decaf and iced (because no caffeine at 4:00pm😉). They ran out of decaf iced coffee and offered a coolatta - 🤢. The manager actually came out and apologized and said they had bottled lemonade, well ok. When I got to the window the woman said that the hibiscus tea was hot but decaf and said she would try and put it over ice and not charge me... win win! It's amazing! My new summer drink. Hibiscus tea over ice with a lemon. Perfection!
